Alabama seafood fans are about to lose another Red Lobster location, with a longtime Montgomery restaurant preparing to serve its final customers. The closure comes as the national chain continues to reduce its footprint following its 2024 bankruptcy.

Red Lobster’s restaurant at 300 Eastdale Circle in Montgomery permanently closed at the end of business on Sunday, September 6, 2026, according to the company and local reports. The restaurant had been a fixture in the Montgomery area for decades.
The location was the only Red Lobster in the River Region, making the closure particularly significant for local customers who regularly visit the seafood chain for dishes such as its famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits and seafood platters.
Closure comes after recent exterior makeover
The restaurant sat just outside Eastdale Mall, an area that has experienced other commercial losses in recent years. Eastdale Mall is now completely vacant, per recent reporting.
Red Lobster said the closure is part of its normal business operations and that it regularly evaluates individual restaurants, including their performance and lease terms.
Red Lobster continues to shrink its footprint
A company spokesperson said the Montgomery closure reflects decisions related to the restaurant’s “unique operating conditions.” The company added that it remains focused on decisions intended to support Red Lobster’s long-term success and stability.
The closure follows another Alabama Red Lobster shutdown earlier this year. The company’s Vestavia Hills restaurant permanently closed May 24 after decades in operation.
After the Montgomery restaurant closure, customers will need to travel farther to visit another Red Lobster. Local reporting indicates the remaining Alabama restaurants include locations in Birmingham, Dothan, Florence, Gadsden, Huntsville, and Oxford.
