If you live a gluten-free lifestyle, you know that fast food can be very hit or miss when it comes to the amount of gluten-free options on the menu. But thanks to expansive menu choices that have begun to include more diet-friendly meals, many of today’s fast food chains offer options to accommodate various lifestyles.
As long as you know what’s safe to order and which menu items to stay away from, then you have a handful of options if you’re looking for some gluten-free grub at Burger King.
Whether you’re avoiding gluten for health reasons or just trying to cut back, we’ve gathered everything on the current menu that fits into a gluten-free diet.

Gluten-free food and drinks available on the Burger King menu
The most important thing to consider when ordering gluten-free food at a fast food chain like Burger King is the fact that most fryers, toasters, and other appliances tend to be shared across all of the food prepared in the restuarant. That means that cross-contamination is always a possibility and can’t necessarily be avoided; so if this is something you’re particularly senstive to, the best bet is to stick to items that are pre-packaged rather than cooked.
Unfortunately Burger King’s chicken dishes, such as the chicken nuggets, chicken fries, and chicken sandwiches, are all breaded in wheat flour. Several other fried items on the menu also contain wheat, either in the form of breading or batter, like the hash browns and onion rings. However, the good news is that as long as you’re okay with a shared fryer, Burger King’s french fries are gluten-free – as are many of their sauces and condiments, and several dessert items on the menu.
While there’s no gluten-free bun available at Burger King, most of the hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and accompanying toppings are naturally gluten-free – so you can always order a burger without the bun if you want to enjoy a gluten-free meal that way. Same goes for most of Burger King’s breakfast sandwiches. However, we haven’t listed any of those items below since they’re not obviously not gluten-free as ordered.

Yes, Burger King’s french fries are technically gluten-free, as they contain no wheat or other gluten-containing ingredients. However, the fries are cooked using a shared fryer with other items that do contain gluten, so there’s risk of cross-contamination.
Unfortunately the hash browns on Burger King’s menu are not gluten-free; they contain wheat flour and thus are not suitable for a gluten-free diet.
While Burger King did once offer a Tendergrill Chicken Sandwich, which featured a gluten-free grilled chicken breast, this item has been discontinued and is no longer on the menu at most Burger King locations.
