Making your own homemade coconut body butter is very easy to do and allows flexibility with the ingredients. The base of the recipe is coconut oil, which is supplemented by the additions of cocoa butter and vitamin E oil. If you prefer shea butter instead of cocoa butter, feel free to substitute! And, if desired, there are also several scents of essential oils that compliment the blend well, such as lavender, orange, and peppermint.
When choosing the material for your homemade coconut body butter, look for organic and unrefined labels. The closer something will be to your body, the cleaner it should be. One of the best benefits of whipping up your own body butter is knowing exactly what it consists of. And you deserve the best and loveliest products!
Ingredients

Coconut Oil – Coconut oil is a multipurpose ingredient, used for many tasks from baking to beauty. Unrefined or virgin coconut oil is rich in antioxidants and provides deep moisturizing power. People claim it is a wonderful treatment for conditions such as eczema and dry hair. We love it for its high level of antioxidants!

Cocoa Butter – Cocoa butter has been touted as a natural salve, rich with emollient strength to soothe chapped skin and scars. It also helps create a barrier to protect your skin from losing moisture. Another bonus is that cocoa butter comes from cocoa beans so it naturally smells like hot chocolate! Yum!
Vitamin E Oil – Vitamin E comes in various product forms, like in gel capsules or combined with vegetable oils. For this recipe, we use vitamin E that is blended with safflower oil as a carrier. In this form, it is easier to buy in larger quantities and measure out for recipes. The safflower oil also gives an extra dose of beautifying ability through its anti-aging properties.
Essential Oils (optional) – Essential oils, such as lavender, orange, and peppermint, partner well with the delicious sweetness of the coconut oil and cocoa butter. There are also aromatherapy benefits to earn from the oils, that can be both anti-inflammatory and calming.
