Culver’s is a fast food restaurant with roots in Wisconsin that started off selling their signature ButterBurgers and Frozen Custard. Now, the menu is so packed that there’s likely something for everyone to enjoy – even those following a gluten-free lifestyle.
If you avoid gluten for whatever reason, Culver’s is one of America’s fast food chains that has plenty of options on the menu to accommodate your diet (with some caveats, of course).
Discover everything on the current Culver’s menu that’s considered gluten-free – keep reading for the complete list.

Gluten-free food and drink choices on the Culver’s menu
If you’re simply looking to avoid gluten in your diet, there are a plethora of menu items that you can order at Culver’s for a gluten-free meal, snack, refreshment, or dessert.
Let’s start with the main entrees at Culver’s: their burgers and sandwiches. Because Culver’s offers a gluten-free bun option which you can order your burger or sandwich on at most locations (availability may be dependent on where you live), you can essentially choose from any item on the menu that’s not breaded and fried.
While that means that any crispy chicken option and all of Culver’s seafood items are out, the signature ButterBurger patties, bacon, roast beef, and grilled chicken are all safe for a gluten-free diet – as long as you order the item on a Rotella’s Gluten Free Bun.
Besides the array of burgers and sandwiches you can order, you also have the option to order a handful of entree salads and soups that happen to be gluten-free (for some, you may need to remove items like croutons or crackers, which we’ve indicated below). And with several gluten-free sides, like mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and steamed broccoli, you shouldn’t have too much trouble creating a full and substantial gluten-free meal.
You’re especially in luck when it comes to desserts at Culver’s. The signature frozen custard is gluten-free (aside from the malted items), as is the lemon ice – which means you can order pretty much any flavor in a dish, a shake or cooler, or a Concrete Mixer. Culver’s pre-made sundaes are all gluten-free as well, but if you choose to build your own dessert you also have a long list of gluten-free mix-ins to choose from, whether it’s candy pieces, fruit, nuts, caramel, or fudge.
And lastly, no need to worry when it comes to beverages at Culver’s; every drink on the menu is gluten-free and up for grabs.
However, as with almost any fast food restaurant, there’s a disclaimer when it comes to gluten-free food and drink choices, and it’s a big one: because of the nature of a fast food restaurant there’s always a risk of cross-contamination with other products that do contain gluten and Culver’s can’t guarantee the food is completely allergen-free. For example, Culver’s fries are cooked in a shared frying oil, and the burgers are grilled on the same grill where bread is toasted. So if you have celiac disease or are extra sensitive to this, that’s definitely something to be cautious about.

Yes, Culver’s Crinkle Cut Fries are technically gluten-free, since they do not contain any wheat or gluten products. However, the frying oil at Culver’s is typically shared with other foods, so there is high risk of cross-contact with other items that contain gluten, for example breaded chicken tenders or fish. For this reason, Culver’s can’t guarantee that the fries are completely gluten-free.
The Rotella’s Gluten-Free Bun that Culver’s uses contains the following ingredients: water, modified starch, rice flour and rice starch, chickpea, granulated sugar, fava bean protein, canola oil, salt, yeast, sorbitan monostearate, ascorbic acid, pea fiber, modified cellulose, cultured brown rice, brown rice, xanthan gum, psyllium husk powder.
No, Culver’s Wisconsin Cheese Curds are not gluten-free because they are breaded with a blend of herbs and spices that contains wheat flour.
