Intro

Costco is just about my favorite place on earth.
Where else can you get fantastic, great-quality food…clothes…really kind of everything…for less?
One of my favorite things about Costco is that they’ve generally embraced online ordering and delivery, with a few options for members…

Intro

More specifically, if you order online, generally delivery falls into three categories:
– There’s some stuff you can buy that’s just free delivery no matter what. Think big, expensive stuff (if you’re buying a $3,000 sectional, Costco will probably happily eat a hundred bucks in shipping fees, right?), some medicines, some of their bigger frozen items, e-gift cards (since they just require an email), that sort of thing.
– 2-day delivery – spend $75, and you get free delivery. This covers most shelf-stable items – pantry staples like rice, cereal, peanut butter; sodas and bread; toilet paper and paper towels, and the like.
– Same-day delivery via Instacart. This costs money, but it’s how you can get fresh produce, milk, eggs, ice cream, all that kind of stuff delivered without spoilage.
What’s weird, though, is…

The inconsistency

Costco only lets you buy certain items online; some stuff you still have to come into the store for.
And while I understand that – of course, they want you to see “just one more thing” and spend an extra $50 you weren’t planning on using…
Some of the things they’ve chosen not to sell online are just very weird to me.
Here are 11 items I wish they’d just sell online already!
And this first one would be SO easy for them…in fact, so easy that they’ve done it before:

DoorDash gift cards

Every time I go to Costco (and I mean, EVERY time), I stop by the gift card rack and pick up two $100 DoorDash gift card multipacks. They just cost $80 a piece!
My family eats a lot of takeout, and while DoorDash is a little pricey…saving 20% off the top (plus another 2% back from my Costco executive membership) makes it a lot cheaper.
But you know what would be even better? Just getting them online from Costco.com or the app! (They’ve done this before. So please do it again!)

Costco pizza

Costco doesn’t offer its own pizzas for delivery.
Which, when you think about it, is pretty crazy.
Right? Like – they’ll ship you frozen pizzas, but not their own fresh-made? They won’t even use Instacart to do it?
Oh well! I’ll just have to keep picking them up.

Archer mini beef sticks

Costco has a great 24-pack of Archer mini beef sticks that are the perfect size for a kid’s snack.
(I know because my kids love eating them all the time.)
From time to time they’ve been available online, but mostly I just go buy them at the warehouse.
But why keep them offline? I’d buy so many more if I could just get them delivered!
Shutterstock
Bonne Maman Advent calendars

Bonne Maman makes delicious jams, and they’ve got this cute Advent calendar (with a little pot of jam for each day) in-stock at my local Costco warehouse.
As they’re trying to clear out stock – why not sell them online?

Chomps beef sticks

Chomps are the beef sticks everyone’s talking about these days, and you can see why –
They taste great, they don’t have too much salt (usually the problem with beef sticks and jerky), and they’re packed with protein and low on calories.
They’re also usually pretty expensive.
But you can get them at Costco for cheap!
But only in-person right now. (They used to be available online. Bring them back!)

Spindrift sparkling water 30-pack

Spindrift sparkling water is one of life’s true pleasures – sparkling water with juice from fresh-squeezed fruit mixed in.
And generally, it’s priced like it.
But not at Costco – where a 30-pack is just $18-$19. (Most other places it’s somewhere around $1 a can. Ridiculous.)
They sell other sparkling water online – why not Spindrift?
Shutterstock
Nightingale ice cream sandwiches

These were briefly available at Costco, and now they’re gone, and I’m devastated.
Nightingale ice cream sandwiches are usually $5-$6 a piece and available only at your local boutique overpriced “market.”
The kind of place where you pay $15 for a sandwich, $7 for a cappuccino, and coconut water is available by the bottle for $5.
You know the place.
But at Costco, they were ridiculously cheap.
Bring them back, sell them online just like other ice cream!

$1.50 hot dog

The buck-fifty hot dog (+ drink) remains one of the most powerful brand-builders in Costco’s history.
But you have to go to the food court to get it!
Makes no sense. Just make it part of the fee-covered same-day delivery option with Instacart.
I’d buy a dozen immediately.

Chicken bake

It will not surprise you at all that Costco’s $3.99 chicken bake is on the list of things I wish Costco sold online and made available for delivery.
If you haven’t had it – it’s a huge roll of pizza dough covered in cheese and stuffed with chicken, bacon, cheese, and Caesar dressing.
It’s one heck of an experience.
And speaking of chicken…

Rotisserie chicken

Come on, Costco!
You sell other folks’ chicken online, and your amazing $4.99 rotisserie chicken should absolutely be added to that list. (Again, with the Instacart same-day delivery.)
I do not need it to be hot – usually I let it cool down before pulling it to use on salads.
Who’s with me?

Hot wheels race tracks

One of my children absolutely ADORES hot wheels, and every time I take him with me to Costco, he begs me for whatever hot wheels race track he sees.
We decided to get him one as a present this year (don’t tell him, it’s a surprise), and I had to make a separate trip to Costco to pick it up.
Which is fine! But they sell plenty of stuff like this online (Monster Jam playsets, Paw Patrol, Bluey, etc.).
So why not hot wheels?

Summary

So there you have it – 11 items I wish Costco would start selling online and making available for delivery.
And as you can see, it’s a mix of (mostly) stuff Costco already sells, but only in their warehouses, plus a few discontinued items I wish they’d bring back.
But that’s just me. Here’s the big question:
