Key Thing: She’s Vegan

Ariana used to eat meat, but she’s been vegan since she Tweeted this on November 5, 2013:
“I’ve eaten organically since I was little and always kept meat minimal but today marks my first day as a 100% Vegan!!!! Joyous day ??????”
Keep that in mind as we roll through some of her favorites!

Japanese veggies

Ariana’s trainer, Harley Pasternak, spilled the beans that she loves Japanese vegetables like daikon (pictured above), lotus, adzuki beans.

Smoothies

Ariana loves a smoothie. Who doesn’t?
It’s easier to go by color vs. all the ingredients.
She particularly loves red (the berries satisfy her sweet tooth), green, and white smoothies.

Chicken Scarpariello (Vegan-style)

Also called “shoemaker’s chicken,” chicken scarpariello is an Italian favorite with Ariana’s family.
Now that she’s vegan, she substitutes a plant-based chicken for the real thing.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal in the morning? Yes, we’re there with you, Ariana!
Clearly, hers would be with a dairy alternative.

Caffeine!

Ariana’s talked about various usually-caffeinated drinks:
– Espresso (morning)
– Soy Latte (with lunch on days she doesn’t have espresso)
– Tea (great with honey for the throat, especially when she’s touring)

Salad is often her lunch of choice.
Ariana’s go-to ingredients include spinach, kale, and/or arugula for the base, tofu, edamame, strawberries, and dates.

Tofu

The original meat alternative, tofu factors in to Ariana’s meals, whether it’s a salad, a stir fry, or a rice bowl.

Vegan Sushi

Fish-based sushi is off the table for Ariana for obvious reasons.
But true to her love of Japanese food, she has rolls that feature veggies like cucumber, avocado, and sweet potatoes.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is one of Ariana’s go-to everyday drinks. Such a great hydrator!

A favorite snack of so many vegans and non-vegans alike, nuts are chock full of proteins, healthy fats, fiber, and other goodies.

Strawberries!

Yup, strawberries are Ariana’s favorite food…let’s hear it straight from her mouth…
She told Women’s Health that “I’ve had at least five strawberries a day since I can remember. They’re my favorite food.”
