Intro

If you’ve visited Red Lobster recently, you’ve likely noticed that the menu looks a little different.
They’ve done a big refresh with several exciting new dishes…
A few of which are actually old friends returning yet again.
(Although, sadly, plenty of old favorites are still gone – unfortunately probably forever.)

What we’ve wanted for years

I’m a longtime Red Lobster fan, and these dishes really incorporate concepts and flavors I’ve been wanting to see on the Red Lobster menu for years – so I’m thrilled to see them!
And once you’ve reviewed the full list, I bet you will be too.
Starting with one that’s so obvious, I’m kind of surprised Red Lobster didn’t already have it…

Lobster Bisque

Lobster bisque is an old favorite of mine from my many visits up north, and I’ve been waiting for someone (really anyone) to deliver a good attempt on it near where I live.
It’s really one of those classic seafood dishes that belongs at any serious seafood chain.
Bravo, Red Lobster!

Lobster Roll

Again – in retrospect, kind of an obvious one.
Lobster rolls are extraordinarily popular in New England, so it’s great to see Red Lobster lean into it. After all, it’s in the name!
Plus, this one’s got kind of a fun twist – it’s on a toasted sweet Hawaiian roll, so you get that bit of sugary goodness along with the butter and the warm lobster.
It’s served with fries (or another side if you prefer – but really, just get it with the fries).

Lemon Basil Mahi

We all know lemon goes with fish, and that goes double for this delicious grilled Mahi dish with a beautiful lemon sauce, plus fresh tomatoes and basil.
You also get two sides (I’ve always been partial to the bacon mac & cheese and the Chesapeake fries, but you do you) to round out what has really turned out to be an excellent meal.

Lobster & Shrimp Linguini

There is nothing that goes better with lobster than shrimp (in my opinion), and this delicious new pasta dish shoes why. Linguini is also probably my favorite pasta to pair with seafood – it’s usually a great texture to contrast.
Add in the creamy lobster sauce, and this is a filling and decadent meal sure to delight anyone who loves lobster.

Lobster Pappardelle Pasta

Another new pasta offering from Red Lobster, this one keeps the same proteins as their lobster and shrimp linguini and changes almost everything else.
You get pappardelle pasta, asparagus, and tomatoes – with a savory garlic sauce that promises to be a little lighter than the linguini but still plenty rich and filling.

Bacon-Wrapped Sea Scallops

Bacon-wrapped sea scallops have been on my wish list for Red Lobster for a long time, simply because – let’s face it! – bacon and scallops are an amazing combination.
Historically this is the sort of thing you’ve only gotten at fancy steakhouses and the best potlucks, so it’s great to see Red Lobster delivering the goods here!

Hush Puppies

Hush puppies are, hands-down, the best part of any seafood meal.
In my humble opinion.
So it’s great to have Red Lobster bringing back hush puppies! (They have been there before and are a longtime fan favorite.)

Roasted Asparagus

Again, I think this is a good sign that Red Lobster is trying to go a little “upmarket” with their menu – by adding roasted asparagus as an option.
It’s easy to make, it tastes good, and it signals that Red Lobster is concerned about health and nutrition.
(Which – let’s face it, I don’t eat out to eat healthy, but lots of people do!)

Parmesan-Crusted Chicken

I mean, you know almost everything about why this is awesome from the name. From chicken cordon bleu to pizza chicken, chicken and cheese just…go together!
What I really love about this dish, though, is that the lemon-herb sauce elevates it even further.
Give it a try – you’ll be glad you did!

Create Your Own Lobster Lover’s Dream

If you like your lobster with a side of lobster, this is the meal for you.
You can pick either two or three lobster dishes from five options (two costs $46.99, three costs $57.99), plus you get two sides as well.
The lobster options are:
– Caribbean rock lobster tail
– Maine lobster tail
– Garlic butter lobster tail
– Lobster mac & cheese
– Lobster & shrimp linguini
It’s a big meal. (You could guess by the price point.) And it’s the perfect way to gorge out for Lobsterfest, in my humble opinion.

Summary

So there you have it – ten fantastic new Red Lobster dishes (a few of which are old friends returned once again) that we’ve been wanting to see for a long time.
(Personally, I’m hoping for a few more dessert options to come along soon.)
My personal favorite? Probably the hush puppies, with the lobster roll a close second.

The turnaround

I’m hopeful that this helps Red Lobster, which has been struggling for some time and had to close nearly 100 locations last year.
They’re due for some good luck, and I hope this starts the turnaround!
But now that you’ve reviewed the full list of new items, that brings me to a big question:
