Florida needed some good news.
After a slew of painful factory closures…
And yet another recent grocery store loss…
It would be nice for something to be stable, you know?
Unfortunately, Florida is taking hits everywhere, even among breweries as the alcohol market sours further.

So there’s no relief to be found – Florida’s economy is just in rough shape.
The recent brewery losses aren’t confined to one area – they’re unfortunately from all over. Including:
- Wynwood Brewing (Miami)
- Jekyll Brewing (Jacksonville)
- Dissent Craft Brewing (St. Petersburg)
- Rule G Brewing Company (Coconut Creek)
- Cycle Brewing (St. Petersburg)
- Twisted Trunk Brewing (Palm Beach Gardens)
- Broken Strings Brewery (Orlando)
And let’s face it – the underlying dynamics of the alcohol market do not look good.
There are of course the twin issues of overbuilding during the good times and the recent pullback in consumer spending – creating an oversupply and a shrinking market.
Plus there’s industry consolidation and the pricing power of the major corporates, which have hurt smaller operations.
And of course, there’s the trade war, which has caused huge boycotts of American alcohol, cutting off critical lifelines to an industry already bleeding from the issues above.
So – all to say that these are unfortunately probably not the last breweries Florida will see closing this year.
