Wegmans is pushing ahead with a fresh wave of expansion, and the next three stores on the horizon are already generating excitement — especially for shoppers in the Pittsburgh region and in North Carolina. According to the company’s updated “Future Store Locations” list, these sites represent Wegmans’ next moves.

Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh Region)
Perhaps the biggest headline is Wegmans’ long-awaited arrival in the Pittsburgh metro. The company has confirmed a major new store in Cranberry Township, located in the Cranberry Springs development off Cool Springs Drive (next to the UPMC Lemieux Sport Complex).
The roughly 115,000-square-foot supermarket will bring the chain’s signature mix of prepared foods, specialty products, and full-service departments. Wegmans expects to hire 400 to 500 employees, a significant workforce for the area.
The store isn’t expected until 2027, but news of the location alone has sparked outsized enthusiasm. This’ll be the 20th Wegmans in Pennsylvania, where it’s been for over 30 years, so it’s about time Pittsburgh got one!
Charlotte, North Carolina (Ballantyne)
Wegmans’ expansion into North Carolina continues with a flagship store planned for Ballantyne, one of Charlotte’s fastest-growing communities. Set on North Community House Road, the future store is expected to span about 110,000 square feet and will include indoor and outdoor dining space through its popular Market Café.
Construction is underway, but this one will take time: Wegmans currently projects an opening in the Fall of 2026. Still, the anticipation is notable — the Ballantyne announcement instantly became one of the company’s most talked-about future sites.
Holly Springs, North Carolina
The third upcoming location is in Holly Springs, on a parcel at the southwest corner of NC-55 and Ralph Stephens Road. The town council has already approved site plans for a Wegmans store, but there have been delays. The most recent update suggests that Wegmans aims to begin construction in mid-to-late 2026 after securing one final plan extension from the town.
But as we see with Buc-ee’s, delays happen. So we’ll keep an eye on this.
A Major Expansion Push
With these three stores, Wegmans continues to broaden its footprint outside its traditional Northeast base. Pittsburgh gets a long-requested entry into the market, while Charlotte and Holly Springs deepen the grocer’s reach in one of the country’s fastest-growing states (they’ll be the fifth and sixth stores in North Carolina).
