Kansas Buc-ee’s fans have a much earlier target to circle. A week after our latest look at construction and road closures around the state’s first Buc-ee’s, the company’s recruiting pages are pointing to a spring 2027 opening.
That is several months sooner than the October 2027 deadline previously tied to the project. It is not a grand-opening date, however, and Buc-ee’s has not named a specific day.

Why spring 2027 now looks realistic
The strongest new clue comes directly from Buc-ee’s. Multiple current job listings for the Kansas City location say the store is coming in spring 2027, including an assistant general manager posting.
Recruiting management several months before opening is a familiar step for a large travel center. Those leaders will need time to hire and train the much bigger team required to run the store, its food counters, fuel area and famously busy restrooms.
The project broke ground in October 2025 and is under construction at 601 Village West Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas. The site sits beside the Legends shopping district and Kansas Speedway, close to Interstate 70.
Plans call for a roughly 74,000-square-foot store, 120 fueling positions and 12 electric-vehicle charging stations. That would put the Kansas location in the same oversized class as Buc-ee’s newer travel centers around the country.
It will also be Buc-ee’s first store in Kansas. Until the doors open, the nearest location for many Kansas City-area fans remains in Springfield, Missouri, roughly three hours away by car.
What changed since the last update
The earlier timeline was shaped by a development agreement requiring the store to open by October 2027. That date functioned as an outside deadline, not necessarily the day Buc-ee’s expected to welcome customers.
The new hiring language is more specific and comes from the company’s own recruiting system. It makes spring 2027 the clearest current window, while leaving room for construction, inspections and staffing to affect the schedule.
Nearby road work is still part of the picture. Construction around Village West Parkway and the North 110th Street interchange has changed access near the site, and portions of that work were scheduled to continue through Thanksgiving.
When can Kansas shoppers make plans?
For now, think of spring 2027 as the target and wait for a dated opening announcement before planning a special trip. “Spring” could cover several months, and a job listing is not the same as a ribbon-cutting notice.
Still, the shift is encouraging. Kansas’ first Buc-ee’s is not merely proposed or waiting on zoning: it is being built, management hiring is underway and the company is now telling applicants to expect a spring arrival.
