Being keto doesn’t mean having no fun in the kitchen anymore or having to make separate meals for different family members. Not only is this recipe too easy, but five meatballs only give you around 2 grams of carbohydrates! They are perfect for keto dieters, and especially those with families who may not be on a keto diet, as they are almost guaranteed to please even the fussiest eater (I have tested this at home!).
You can use this recipe as a base and then change up the seasonings if you want something a bit different. You can also prepare them in advance, freeze a bunch, and reheat them as needed. There is nothing these meatballs can’t do!

Tips for Perfect Keto Meatballs
In my opinion, meatballs always taste better with sauce. If you want to cook them in a sauce, simply add the sauce over the meatballs for the last 10 minutes of baking time.
Don’t skip the milk! It sounds like a strange add-in, but it keeps your meatballs from drying out.
Don’t overmix your meatballs, or they might end up being too chewy.
Variations and Add-Ins for Keto Meatballs
You can use any ground meat other than beef for these. If you want to go lean, try ground turkey. If you want a stronger flavor, try ground pork! If you live in Australia, you could even try kangaroo meat.
Mix up your seasonings. You can make your meatballs Mexican by adding a Mexican spice mix instead of Italian seasonings. A cajun spice mix is lovely, too. Or go all the way different and add Southeast Asian flavors like Thai spices!
How to Serve Keto Meatballs
You can serve these any way you like, depending on who is eating. To keep it keto, they go well with salad or zucchini noodles with marinara sauce. I served mine with some mac n cheese (not keto, but kid and fussy boyfriend-friendly!). You can even add them to keto wraps or make larger ones and enjoy a keto burger.
How to Store and Reheat Keto Meatballs
These meatballs can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for a few days, though they dry out a little if they haven’t been cooked in a sauce. To reheat, I add them to a skillet with some oil or sauce, turn the heat low, cover the top, and let it heat for 10 minutes or so. Microwaving for 2 minutes on high also works, but they will dry a bit more. If you want to freeze the cooked meatballs, that’s fine too; they will last about three months.

FAQs
Keto meatballs usually consist of ground meat (such as beef, pork, or turkey), eggs, grated cheese (like Parmesan or mozzarella), and seasonings. Instead of using traditional breadcrumbs, which are high in carbs, keto meatballs use alternatives like almond flour, crushed pork rinds, or coconut flour to keep them low-carb.
The carb content in keto meatballs can vary depending on the specific ingredients, meatball size, and recipe used. However, a typical keto meatball might have approximately 1-2 grams of net carbs per meatball.
Yes, you can freeze keto meatballs. First, cook the meatballs and let them cool completely. Then, place them on a baking sheet with baking or parchment paper and put them in the freezer until they are completely solid. Then, transfer the frozen meatballs to a resealable plastic bag or airtight container. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
