Intro

Forget McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King, these are the three burger chains craved by fans!
But only four states are lucky enough to have an In-N-Out, a Five Guys, and a Whataburger within their state lines.
And one more will soon.
Can you guess them?

State 1: Colorado

Colorado has 30 Five Guys, 12 In-N-Outs, and 8 Whataburgers.
Not bad for the birthplace of Chipotle!

State 2: Arizona

Arizona sports a surprising 42 Whataburgers, and 38 In-N-Outs, and 35 Five Guys.
That’s impressive concentration for each of them!
It probably helps that Arizona sits right between In-N-Out’s California and Whataburger’s Texas.

State 3: Nevada

Nevada squeaks in with 23 In-N-Outs, 10 Five Guys, and a single Whataburger in Vegas.

State 4: Texas

Texas has 43 In-N-Outs, 78 Five Guys, and…wait for it…a whopping 762 Whataburgers!
Yeah, Texas LOVES its hometown burger chain.

Next Up: Tennessee

Tennessee already has 25 Whataburgers and 34 Five Guys.
And in 2026, it’ll host the first In-N-Out Burger east of the Mississippi!

Why not California?

If you’re in tune with In-N-Out’s roots, you may have thought California was a slam dunk.
I mean, it does have 282 In-N-Out locations as well as 118 Five Guys restaurants.
But so far, Whataburger hasn’t dared to challenge In-N-Out on its home turf (even as In-N-Out has come to Texas).
Maybe one day…
