Popular Ohio seafood restaurant closing after nearly 30 years in business

Blue Point Grille, one of downtown Cleveland’s longest-running fine dining destinations, is preparing to close after more than 28 years in business.

The acclaimed seafood restaurant announced that it will serve its final guests on July 31, 2026, ending a run that began in 1998 in Cleveland’s Historic Warehouse District. The owners shared the news in a social media announcement, thanking customers for decades of support while reflecting on the restaurant’s legacy as one of Northeast Ohio’s premier seafood destinations. 

A Cleveland dining institution

Since opening in 1998, Blue Point Grille has earned a reputation for its fresh seafood, elegant dining room, extensive wine list, and attentive service. Located on West St. Clair Avenue, the restaurant became a popular destination for business dinners, celebrations, and visitors exploring downtown Cleveland.

Over the years, Blue Point Grille received numerous accolades, including repeated recognition as Cleveland’s top seafood restaurant. Its menu featured seafood flown in daily, fresh oysters, premium steaks, and an award-winning wine program, helping establish it as one of the city’s signature fine dining establishments. 

More than 25 years of memories

In announcing the closure, the restaurant thanked loyal patrons who had celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, business deals, and countless special occasions within its historic dining rooms. The farewell message highlighted the relationships built with guests and employees over nearly three decades, emphasizing that Blue Point Grille had become more than just a restaurant.

The closure marks the end of one of Cleveland’s best-known independent restaurants and another significant change for the city’s dining scene.

Blue Point Grille’s departure comes as restaurants across the country continue to face evolving consumer habits, higher operating costs, and changing downtown business patterns.

While the owners have not publicly detailed the reasons behind the decision, the restaurant’s final service on July 31 closes the chapter on an establishment that helped define Cleveland’s Warehouse District dining scene for nearly three decades.
