Raising Cane’s is beginning another aggressive month of expansion, building on a growth campaign that has already brought new Cane’s restaurants to cities across the country. The chicken-finger chain has confirmed seven August openings, along with four remodeled restaurants scheduled to reopen.
The new restaurants land in California, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, Alabama and Georgia. The reopenings are spread across Texas, Kentucky, Nevada and Ohio.
Two of the seven new restaurants opened August 3. The remaining five are scheduled to arrive between August 10 and August 24.
The seven new Raising Cane’s restaurants
Here is the complete August opening schedule supplied by the company:
- Novi, Michigan: Opened August 3 at 26245 Novi Road
- Rocky Mount, North Carolina: Opened August 3 at 1010 N. Wesleyan Boulevard
- Thousand Oaks, California: Opening August 10 at 400 N. Moorpark Road
- Fontana, California: Opening August 17 at 16940 Slover Avenue
- Linden, New Jersey: Opening August 17 at 801 W. Edgar Road
- Tuscaloosa, Alabama: Opening August 24 at 1241 McFarland Boulevard E.
- Statesboro, Georgia: Opening August 24 at 24087 U.S. 80
The Rocky Mount and Statesboro restaurants are particularly notable because they introduce Raising Cane’s to new regional markets in eastern North Carolina and southeastern Georgia. Both are college towns, the kind of market the chain has leaned on for years.
California will receive two of the seven restaurants, further expanding one of Raising Cane’s most important markets. New Jersey, Alabama, Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia each receive one opening.
Four remodeled restaurants are also reopening
Raising Cane’s is also preparing to reopen four existing restaurants after remodeling work.
These are not additional new locations, so they should be counted separately from the seven openings:
- College Station, Texas: Reopening August 12 at 1045 Texas Avenue
- Lexington, Kentucky: Reopening August 17 at 2555 Nicholasville Road
- Las Vegas, Nevada: Reopening August 17 at 7550 S. Las Vegas Boulevard
- Gahanna, Ohio: Reopening August 24 at 1320 N. Hamilton Road
The company has not announced a single nationwide promotion covering all four reopenings. Customers should check with their local restaurant for hours, giveaways or other opening-day events.
Raising Cane’s is celebrating 30 years
The expansion arrives during an important month for the company.
Todd Graves opened the first Raising Cane’s near Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge on August 28, 1996. The chain will celebrate its 30th anniversary later this month.
That original restaurant was built around an unusually limited menu: chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, coleslaw and Cane’s Sauce. Instead of expanding into burgers, bone-in chicken and dozens of rotating entrées, Raising Cane’s largely remained committed to that focused formula.
The strategy helped Cane’s build a devoted following, especially among younger customers. Long lines frequently form when the company enters a new market, and restaurant openings regularly require special traffic and crowd-control preparations.
Cane’s expansion is accelerating
Raising Cane’s opened its 1,000th restaurant on March 19 at a two-story flagship on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, steps from the Walk of Fame. It has continued adding restaurants at a rapid pace since then, including seven openings in May, 12 in June and five in July. The company expects to open roughly 100 restaurants across 2026.
Its longer-term goal, as the company puts it, is to operate more than 1,600 restaurants and become a top 10 U.S. restaurant brand by the end of the decade.
The seven August openings bring Raising Cane’s another step closer. For customers in Thousand Oaks, Fontana, Linden, Tuscaloosa and Statesboro, the wait should end before Labor Day.
