Trump administration Health & Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is no stranger to controversy.
Look no further than the FDA bans on synthetic dyes in foods that have caused huge disruptions to restaurants and snack food supply chains.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg – because RFK, Jr. has set his sights quite a bit higher.
During an interview on WABC 770 AM radio earlier this week, he called for an end to SNAP benefits being used to purchase soda and candy.
”Taxpayers should not be financing that,” he claimed, while approvingly citing the dozen-plus states that have already restricted soda purchases with SNAP benefits. (These restrictions are slated to go into effect next year.)
Whether he’ll continue to loudly exhort states to expand their bans or is contemplating some kind of (as-yet-unknown) more direct action in the future remains to be seen.
