Feeling lucky? Want to celebrate Irish heritage? Just looking for an excuse to shake up your coffee routine?
Then I’ve got a treat for you. These drinks are delicious and themed around Shamrock and St. Patrick’s Day flavors.
Get them while they’re still in season!
(You can also wait and order in a few months if you want – these are mostly not seasonal offerings – but, let’s face it, St. Patrick’s Day stuff tastes better around St. Patrick’s Day.)
Not your traditional Starbucks order
Before getting started, I want to be clear – these drinks are mostly not on the official Starbucks menu. They’re part of its “secret menu” – edits you can make to “official” recipes to yield new and interesting results.
It’s actually one of the things I love best about Starbucks – you can customize! (Within reason.) These drinks are all easy to adjust, and I’ve left precise instructions next to each.
Top St. Patrick’s Day Drinks at Starbucks
Here are the drinks. Oh, and by the way – these are in no particular order. They’re all good in their own ways, so find the one that speaks to you and get it!
Leprechaun Frappuccino
I mean, obviously this one’s interesting, right? First off – it’s green. Secondly, it’s minty. But the thing I actually appreciate most about it is that the matcha gives it a more complex flavor than just a straight Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s. That means it’s, well, a more serious drink – while still giving you that minty bite you expect of anything cold and green in a glass!
- Base order: Matcha Creme Frappuccino
- Adjustments:
- Add 1-2 shots peppermint syrup
- Blend in Java chips
Irish Cream Frappuccino
It’s all in the name, right? You know exactly what you’re getting here. (Erm, minus the alcohol.) This thick and decadent frappuccino is the perfect thing to put a pep in your step. (Just be warned – I’ve had it, and it really is super rich – adding in half & half really ups the ante here.)
- Base order: White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino
- Adjustments:
- Sub half & half
- Add three pumps of Irish cream syrup
Shamrock Tea
This one’s a TikTok original – and it’s perfect for if you want a little something that reminds you of Ireland without all the extra calories of a frappuccino and tons of sugary syrups. The base is an iced matcha tea latte, so you know you’re getting cold and refreshing here.
- Base order: Iced Matcha Tea Latte
- Adjustments:
- Sub coconut milk (always a good move)
- Add in a splash of lemonade
- Add 1-2 scoops of vanilla bean powder
Thin Mint Latte
Ok, fine, technically not themed after Leprechauns, shamrocks, or Irish cream. However – girl scout cookie season brackets St. Patrick’s Day perfectly, and anything minty is Irish for St. Patrick’s Day, as far as I’m concerned.
And again – this one has some complexity to it because of matcha, which I love – it’s not all just mint overload.
- Base order: Matcha Tea Latte
- Adjustments:
- Sub in almond milk
- Add two pumps of peppermint syrup and mocha sauce
- Top with light foam and mocha drizzle (if you like foam as much as I do, feel free to up the foam.)
Andes Mint Cold Brew
Cold brew is already one of my favorite Starbucks drinks, and this minty version is even better than the base drink. (I mean, in all fairness – if you add a bunch of syrup to something, it had better taste good!)
Enjoy this minty treat on the go any time!
- Base order: Cold Brew
- Adjustments:
- Add three pumps each of mocha sauce, white chocolate mocha sauce, and peppermint syrup
- Top with cold foam and mocha drizzle
(This one’s my personal favorite of these, so please do be sure to try it.)
Shamrock Shake Frappuccino
Do you like McDonald’s Shamrock Shake but are looking for something a little fancier? Try out this Shamrock Shake Frappuccino. You get matcha for the green color and the complexity, peppermint for the minty flavor, and vanilla bean powder for greater depth.
- Base order: Matcha Creme Frappuccino
- Replace the classic syrup with two pumps of peppermint syrup
- Add 1.5 scoops each of matcha powder and vanilla bean powder
Like I mentioned above, you can enjoy most of these drinks year-round. And if you’re looking for more, you can see the full Starbucks secret menu here.
