Not much beats really good fried chicken!
Fortunately, if you can’t get it homemade, there are so many restaurant options out there.
But it may surprise you which famous chicken joint gets the most love from Baby Boomers…

We used survey data from YouGov (Q1 2025) to find out exactly which fried chicken places Baby Boomers love the most.
To be fair to the regional and less-well-known chains, we adjusted the popularity by how many people actually knew about it.
Let’s get to the top 10…

#10 Golden Chick

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 16%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 31%
Golden Chick (originally Golden Fried Chicken) was born in Texas and is there and in nearby Southern states.

#9 Slim Chickens

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 15%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 40%
Tenders and wings are the specialty at Arkansas-based Slim Chickens. Bonus points for the chicken and waffles and 14 sauce choices, including gravy, Korean BBQ, and blue cheese!

#8 Zaxby’s

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 54%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 41%
Beyond the chicken tenders and wings at this Southern chain, there are sandwiches like its Zaxbys Signature Sandwich and the Fried Chicken Philly. And, of course, Zalads!

#7 Bojangles

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 65%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 43%
From North Carolina, you can get all the chicken options at Bo’s. From 8-piece dinners to chicken biscuits to boneless chicken breast tenderloins. You can even get sweet potato pie for dessert!

#6 Raising Cane’s

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 66%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 45%
This may be my personal favorite of the fried chicken chains on this list. Raising Cane’s is laser-focused on chicken fingers and just a few well-curated sides. No wings, no full pieces. But good quality every time!

#5 Church’s Chicken

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 85%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 49%
Church’s is also known as Church’s Texas Chicken or just Texas Chicken in places. And it was born there. But it’s headquartered in Atlanta. I guess Georgia Chicken doesn’t have the same ring?
Note: For seafood lovers, you can also get shrimp or a fish sandwich.

#4 Wingstop

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 77%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 51%
The first of our chains with a Boomer approval rating above 50%, Wingstop is a fast-growing restaurant that’s already over 1,400 locations.
More than just wings, Wingstop has chicken sandwiches and recently added crispy tenders.

#3 Popeyes

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 98%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 56%
Love that chicken from Popeye’s! The spicing of its fried chicken is hard to beat, hearkening back to its Louisiana roots. Fun fact: Popeye’s original name was Chicken on the Run.

#2 KFC

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 100%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 57%
Boomers can remember when KFC was called Kentucky Fried Chicken. The original recipe of 11 herbs and spices is literally known the world over now (e.g. it’s pretty darn popular in China!).
Still, KFC only ranked #2…

#1 Chick-fil-A

% of Baby Boomers who know it: 100%
% of those Baby Boomers who like it: 63%
Did you guess Chick-fil-A? If you’re like me, you’re slamming your palm into your forehead right now. It’s not just Boomers who love Chick-fil-A’s delicious chicken, but just about every Boomer does know it and 63% are fans!
The breakfast biscuit option is my favorite way to consume Chick-fil-A’s delicious fried chicken.
