This skin-nourishing tallow balm will leave your skin feeling soft and hydrated. This easy DIY is perfect for sensitive and dry skin.

I love homemade skincare products like lotion bars, whipped body butter and lip balm. There are many different types of oils and butters that offer an array of skin benefits. While beef tallow is known more for cooking, it’s also great for the skin and can be used in various skincare products like lip balm, soap, and body butter. Today I’m going to share how to make a simple tallow balm that can be used as a lotion, lip balm, and hair oil. This balm is very moisturizing and is great for dry and sensitive skin.
How To Make Tallow Balm
For this recipe you will need grass-fed tallow, organic olive oil, and essential oils.
You will need a scale to measure the oils by weight. Once weighed, pour the tallow and olive oil in a saucepan and warm over medium heat.
Stir until the tallow melts. Once melted, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the essential oils.
Pour the tallow balm into clean and sanitized jars. Allow the balm to cool before using. Once the balm solidifies, store at room temperature and use as a moistrizer. This balm can be used on the skin, face and hair. Use a small amount at a time because a little goes a long way with his tallow balm.

About The Ingredients:
- Grass Fed Tallow: Grass fed beef tallow has been used in soap making and skincare for hundreds of years. This fat is stable at room temperature and is full of fat soluble vitamins.
- Olive Oil: Extra-virgin olive oil is great for the skin and adds a lovely feel to this balm. Other oils like almond or jojoba oil may be used in place of olive oil in this recipe.
- Essential Oils: I use essential oils in this balm to add a nice scent and add skin benefits. You may leave them out if you prefer not to use essential oils. You may use a blend of essential oils in this DIY. I like to use geranium, chamomile, frankincense, and lavender essential oil in my homemade tallow products.
