Walmart’s holiday sales begin November 12, with three shopping events stretching into December. For anyone pairing homemade food gifts with store-bought Christmas presents, there’s an important detail: Walmart+ members get the first 24 hours to buy select online deals.
That head start does not cover every sale item, and it does not guarantee stock. Nonmembers can shop those particular offers afterward only if supplies remain.

When Walmart’s three sales start
Walmart’s holiday shopping announcement lays out three separate events:
Early Black Friday, November 12–15: Online offers begin at 12:01 a.m. Eastern on November 12. The in-store event starts at 6 a.m. local time that day.
Black Friday, November 23–29: Online shopping begins at 12:01 a.m. Eastern on November 23, while the in-store sale starts November 27 at 6 a.m. local time.
Cyber Monday, November 30–December 2: The online event opens at 12:01 a.m. Eastern on November 30.
The 24-hour member-only access applies to select online offers in the first two events. Remaining items open to everyone November 13 and November 24, respectively, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern.
Walmart describes early access as a benefit for paid members and advises them to watch their email for notices about upcoming events.
Buying early does not guarantee a price adjustment
Before buying a gift ahead of a sale, consider Walmart’s price-matching rules. Walmart.com does not adjust the price of an earlier online purchase simply because that item later becomes cheaper on its website.
The store policy also excludes matching Walmart.com prices offered during special events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. An online promotional price is therefore not a promise that a cashier will match it in a store.
For a bigger purchase, compare the exact model and package—not just the brand name—and decide whether the price works for your budget before checking out.
Holiday returns have exceptions
Most eligible purchases made from October 1 through December 31, 2026, can be returned through January 31, 2027. That gives many Christmas gift recipients time after the holiday to make a return.
But do not assume every item qualifies. Walmart lists exceptions including wireless phones, major appliances, Dyson products, protection plans, and certain seasonal and luxury goods. Participation by third-party Marketplace sellers also varies.
Check the individual item’s return terms before buying, especially for an expensive gift. Walmart says the purchase-history section of an online account shows the latest eligible return or replacement date. Keep the receipt and packaging, too.
