There’s been a nationwide scandal unfolding over grocery stores overcharging customers.
(In some cases by as much as 18%!)
Well, finally, consumers are fighting back.
More specifically, four California counties (San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Clara, and Sonoma) just won a $5.6 million court judgment against Walmart for overcharging Californians.

The settlement isn’t just about penalties – it also sets a new expectation that Walmart have employees in every store whose job is to check that prices and weights are accurate.
And while the enhanced protections required by the settlement don’t extend past California’s borders, this should serve as a warning to other retailers that they can’t just overcharge people with impunity.
Congratulations, California – here’s hoping the other 49 states are keeping a close eye on customer complaints, too!
