White Castle is finally coming to Texas – and its first location just cleared a major milestone

White Castle fans in Texas are getting closer to their first real shot at fresh, hot sliders without a freezer aisle involved.

The fast-food chain has officially broken ground on its first Texas restaurant, a milestone for a brand that has been around since 1921 but has never operated a restaurant in the state. The new White Castle is planned for The Colony, north of Dallas, at 4520 Destination Drive in the Grandscape development.

That gives North Texas another big-name food draw in an area already packed with shopping, dining and entertainment.

Where the new White Castle will open

The planned restaurant will be about 3,430 square feet and is expected to include a double drive-thru, patio seating, indoor seating and a canopy.

For local fans, the big question is timing. The company’s Texas debut is expected to open in late fall, according to recent reports on the groundbreaking.

That means Dallas-Fort Worth could see its first White Castle before the end of 2026, assuming construction stays on track.

Why this opening is getting attention

White Castle has long had a cult following in parts of the Midwest, East Coast and South, but Texas has remained outside its restaurant map.

That made the groundbreaking feel bigger than a standard fast-food opening. At the ceremony, the company even held a symbolic “sprinkling of the onion” where the grill will be located — a nod to the chain’s signature slider style.

The new restaurant is also expected to create roughly 70 jobs, giving the opening a local employment angle beyond the novelty of a famous burger brand entering Texas.

What customers can expect

White Castle is best known for small square sliders, but the menu has grown over the years to include chicken, fish, breakfast items, sides and frozen retail products.

For Texans, though, the main draw will probably be simple: the first chance to order White Castle from an actual restaurant in the state.

And in a market already loyal to Whataburger and packed with burger competition, the question is not just whether Texans will show up on opening day. It is whether the chain can turn curiosity into regular customers.

For now, the answer is still months away… but the first step has officially happened!
