America’s economic downturn came for grocery stores…
Even Chick-fil-A!
And now it’s expanded all the way to takeout pizza.
Now Pizza Hut, the iconic delivery chain, is closing stores.

These closures aren’t limited to one franchisee, state, or region – they’re from all over the country. Including:
- Northland Drive in Big Rapids, Michigan
- Mountain Road in Pasadena, Maryland
- Route 37 East in Tom’s River, New Jersey
- Bankhead Highway in Carrollton, Georgia
It’s sad whenever any restaurant closes. But when it’s a major chain like Pizza Hut, it’s often a warning.
The restaurant industry is facing enormous challenges: Food inflation, high interest rates (which increases debt costs), labor shortages, and the fact that consumers are increasingly concerned about the economy and pulling back on spending.
And while every closure is unique, it would be surprising if the factors above didn’t have something to do with each of these closures. After all – if your business is thriving and faces no major challenges, why close it?
