We’ll get into where it’s expanding in just a moment.

Let’s talk Wawa

Wawa is beloved for its sandwiches – especially its hoagies and Sizzli breakfast sandwiches.
(Try the sausage and egg – you’ll be glad you did.)
Unlike, say, a Buc-ee’s – which trades on its absurd size – Wawas are usually just a little bigger than your standard convenience store (4,000 square feet vs around 3,000).

Where Wawas live

Wawas are generally found just off a main artery – usually a highway or four-lane state route.
Wawas are currently found in seven states – New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Think of it as a very “I-95” kind of convenience store.
Alright, with that – on to the new Wawas!

#1: Ruther Glen, Virginia

Wawa’s new Ruther Glen location is just off I-95, between Doswell and Fredericksburg.
I can tell you from experience – this is a location a lot of people stop off at after being caught in traffic northbound from Richmond for an hour.
And it’s not nearly as crowded as Doswell, where King’s Dominion is based. A perfect Wawa location.
This Wawa JUST opened on November 13th.

#2: Robesonia, Pennsylvania

Robesonia is getting its own Wawa – and again, this is all about location.
This new Wawa is right off Route 422, one of the main arteries connecting Reading to Harrisburg.
Because it’s in between I-78 and I-76, I’d expect this Wawa to get a lot of repeat traffic from locals vs tons of out-of-town traffic on the highways.
This Wawa opens on November 14th, 2024.

#3: Bainbridge, Georgia

What a great location for a Wawa – right at the intersection of (East/West) Route 84 out to Dothan and Rt 27 out of Tallahassee.
It’s also built next to a ton of other traveler-focused retail.
This Wawa opens on November 14th, 2024.

#4: Palm Coast, Florida

This Wawa joins a retail cluster catering to the I-95 crowd, including Wendy’s, Checkers, and Walgreens.
This Wawa opens on November 22nd.

#5: Midlothian, Virginia

This new Wawa is going to be right off Rt 288, which is the western arc of the ring around Richmond (north and east and I-295; west and south are Rt 288 down to Chester).
This Wawa opens on November 22nd.

Summary

So there you have it – five new Wawas in places that are super convenient to large roads…
With lots of frontage and lots of excitement still to come.
Where should Wawa open next? Sound off in the comments!
