Hard Rock Cafe has long been synonymous with Florida tourism, but 2026 has brought significant changes for the iconic restaurant chain. Two longtime Florida locations are closing or preparing to close, marking the end of decades-long runs in some of the state’s most recognizable tourist destinations.
Key West restaurant permanently closed
The first closure came in Key West, where Hard Rock Cafe permanently closed in May after serving customers for nearly 30 years. Located on Duval Street, the restaurant had become a staple for visitors looking to pair classic American fare with the chain’s famous collection of rock-and-roll memorabilia.
While the company did not announce a broader restructuring of its restaurant business, the closure ended one of Hard Rock’s longest-running locations in the Florida Keys.
Miami’s iconic Bayside location is next
Hard Rock’s footprint will shrink even further when its Bayside Marketplace restaurant in downtown Miami permanently closes on August 19. The waterfront location first opened in 1993 and has operated for more than three decades, becoming one of the chain’s best-known restaurants in South Florida.
According to the company, the restaurant’s lease is expiring and will not be renewed. The closure is expected to eliminate 117 jobs, although Hard Rock said affected employees will have opportunities at nearby locations, including the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.
Hard Rock’s Florida presence remains strong
Despite the closures, Hard Rock continues to maintain a significant presence across Florida through its hotels, casinos, cafes, and entertainment venues. The company says it remains committed to its remaining Florida properties while continuing to expand its global portfolio with new cafe openings elsewhere.
For longtime fans, however, the loss of both the Key West and Miami locations marks the end of an era, leaving Florida with two fewer pieces of Hard Rock Cafe history.
