Love Krispy Kreme? Good – you should!
Unlike Dunkin’, Krispy Kreme hasn’t hung its hat on having dozens and dozens of flavors – just a handful of doughnuts, exceptionally well-executed.
But of course, some are still better than others.
And if you’ve got a sugar craving, these’ll be just the thing. Let’s talk about Krispy Kreme’s very best doughnuts, which I’ve ranked for you below.

#5: Original glazed doughnut holes
Ok, ok, I know – we can have a long debate about whether doughnut holes are technically doughnuts. But I’m writing the article, so I get to decide. They’re doughnuts! And they’re delicious! And you can eat a whole handful of them. I’ve got a lot of fond memories of doughnut holes after church on Sundays, and I always love to pick up a box whenever I need a quick pick-me-up or need to contribute to a potluck.
#4: Glazed raspberry-filled doughnut
This is your standard jam-filled doughnut. Except, where most are powdered – this one’s glazed. Which, I definitely prefer glazed to powdered, because powder gets everywhere. (Plus, I just find that the powdered sugar, when combined with the jam, is just a little too sickly sweet for me.)
I love the textures with this doughnut – you get the thick raspberry filling and the slight crunch of the glazed dough…and you get a great balance of flavors too, with the tartness of the raspberry filling helping balance out the sweetness of the glaze.
#3: Peachy keen cobbler doughnut
I just tried this new Dolly Parton-inspired doughnut, and honestly it’s one of the best doughnuts I’ve ever tasted. (Good enough to knock my go-to glazed raspberry-filled off third place on this ranking, which is saying something.)
The peach filling tastes just like summer, and the brown sugar flavored icing is excellent. Krispy Kreme advertises the doughnut as having a “crunchy cobbler style topping” – eh, I mean, it’s crunchy for sure, but I didn’t think “cobbler style” immediately. It tastes good and gives the doughnut a different textural dimension. That’s good enough for me.
This doughnut is part of the limited-run “Dolly Parton” lineup, which runs until June 16th, so enjoy it while you can!
#2: Glazed blueberry cake doughnut
I like traditional doughnuts, but I LOVE cake doughnuts. They’re crunchier, a little more balanced, and just have a much better mouth-feel (in my opinion). It’s ironic, because I’m usually a big fan of doughier stuff…for example: I love underbaking my chocolate chip cookies by a minute or two for that gooier consistency.
Anyway, blueberry is also a lovely flavor in a cake doughnut – I’ve always been a sucker for good fruit flavors – and this one is genuinely enticing. It’s a shame Krispy Kreme doesn’t have more cake doughnuts! I’d eat them more regularly!
#1: Chocolate iced doughnut with kreme filling
I love chocolate, and I LOVE filled doughnuts. This one is just such a great combo of both delicious flavors. You get the thick creamy filling combined with the bold sweetness of the chocolate icing…it’s just about as close to perfect as you’re going to get.
True story, I actually had this doughnut as the “cake” for my birthday recently – my children put a sparkler candle in it and everything. Let’s please not talk about my age!
