Passion fruit is one of those uber-tropical flavors that gets the mouth watering real quick! It’s an amazing fruit on its own, but also lends its delicious flavor to different drinks and beverages quite well!
Now, if you want a way to travel to any tropical beach through your taste buds, passion fruit syrup is the thing for you! It combines the deliciousness of the passion fruit with extra sweetness, and provides an extremely convenient and easy way of adding the flavor to anything you want!
That being said, there are many passion fruit syrups out there, making it a bit tricky to decide on one. That’s why we’ve gone ahead and tested a bunch of them, ranking our favorites and listing the ones we’d avoid…

So, let’s check out the delicious passion fruit syrups in more detail!
What is passion fruit syrup?
Passion fruit syrup is a concoction that puts the powerful and delicious flavor of passion fruit into a syrup form factor. It’s made by boiling sugar and water together in order to create a simple syrup, and then adding passion fruit pulp into the mixture, letting it all sit together for a while.
This is then strained, leaving us with the liquid gold that is passion fruit syrup!
How to use passion fruit syrup for flavoring
Passion fruit syrup boasts a tropical and sweet flavor profile, being the perfect thing to add a touch of summer into many different dishes!
It excels in beverages, being used to make many delicious cocktails and drinks such as passion fruit bellinis, mojitos, passion fruit soda, and passion fruit-flavored lemonades! Start by adding 1-3 tablespoons of the syrup into whatever drink you want, which is generally enough to get some proper flavor! Feel free to experiment with that, adding more or less as desired!
You can also drizzle it over your yogurt, oatmeal, cakes, pancakes – anything you want to add the flavor to is fair game! That being said, I recommend sticking to using it in beverages, desserts, and dishes as a syrup, rather than in baking as an ingredient. This is because it’s a little tricky to control the passion fruit flavor in baking, and the syrup version of it is much better suited for things like spreading it over bakes, making salad vinaigrettes, and mixing it into your ice cream!
However, feel free to experiment with it, as the flavor is delicious in many more things!

How to choose the best passion fruit syrup
Passion fruit syrup comes with many things to consider, which is why we’ve done our research and also made this list of criteria that helps us find high-quality ones:
- Ingredients: We don’t like artificial ingredients, and aim to avoid them if possible. Natural ingredients always provide the best flavors – and we can feel healthier using those!
- Consumer feedback: Every person’s opinion matters when we review these syrups, as it gives us a deeper insight into what people liked and didn’t like!
- Track record: A brand’s track record directly relates to how good their products are, as bad customer service, unethical practices, and things like recalls or scandals aren’t a good recipe for good products.
- Price: There are options for budget-friendly syrups and more expensive ones – there’s one for everyone!

Others we reviewed
As mentioned, there are a lot of passion fruit syrups out there. Some of them are much better than others (the ones in the list above are great), but there are several that did disappoint…
Now, some of these I’m about to mention don’t taste bad at all – I’ve found they actually taste quite good – but they use a ton of artificial flavors, coloring, and preservatives, which we don’t like. There are so many great natural options that provide an even better taste – why settle for something artificial when you can get the real deal?
Torani, for example, is usually one of our top picks when reviewing syrups, but they dropped the ball with their passion fruit syrup by adding unnecessary preservatives and artificial colors!
Tea Zone, Boba2U, Fusion Select, and 1883 are other brands that unfortunately decided to add artificial ingredients and preservatives, which means that we do not recommend any of those.
However, the ones in the rankings above are great choices, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy them!
