Let’s be honest, no matter which fast food restaurant you go to or what their selection of menu items looks like, fast food is a category that doesn’t exactly fly on the paleo diet. As the epitome of processed food, it’s meant to be avoided if you eat paleo.
However, everyone follows the diet in different ways, and if your paleo lifestyle makes room for certain allowances or indulgences from time to time, then the occasional Burger King visit can be enjoyed without straying too far from your diet.
We’ve compiled everything on the current Burger King menu, along with the necessary modifications to make, that will provide you with a more paleo-friendly choice for a quick meal.

Paleo-friendly food and drinks available on the Burger King menu
Similar to a gluten-free or keto diet, one of the big no-nos on the paleo diet is grains. This rules out anything on the menu that’s breaded and fried, like Burger King’s chicken nuggets, crispy chicken and fish sandwiches, and other foods that happen to contain wheat, like the hash browns and onion rings. But regardless of the ingredients, it’s best to stay away from any food that’s deep-fried while on the paleo diet because of the hydrogenated oil that it’s typically fried in.
That leaves a majority of the menu off limits, but there are a few things at Burger King that make for better choices on the paleo diet – the key is to stick to certain meats, eggs, and vegetables as much as possible, and avoid foods like condiments and sauces (which are often made with oils and added sugars), cheese, sweets and baked goods, and sugary beverages.
Some meats tend to be more processed than others, so on the paleo diet, it’s best to choose meats like beef patties and eggs rather than bacon and sausage. Your best bet at Burger King on a paleo diet is to order a burger or sandwich, and skip out on the bun and condiments to make the meal more paleo-friendly – but ultimately, the choice of which ingredients to remove and which to keep is up to your discretion.
