Cava 101

Cava is known as the Chipotle for Mediterranean food.
Think delicious bowls and pitas with ingredients like spicy lamb, feta, falafel, hummus, tzatziki, avocado, and harissa. And of course olives!
All done assembly-line style.

Where Is It Now?

Started in just 2006, Cava hit 367 restaurants by the end of 2024.
It’s in half of the 50 states plus DC.
Cava’s headquartered in DC, but only has seven stores there.

The five states with the most Cava locations are:
– Texas (68)
– California (36)
– Virginia (36)
– Florida (29)
– North Carolina (26)

Cava’s Growth

Cava added 58 net new locations in 2024 and it’s planning 62 to 66 in 2025.
That would bring Cava’s total to between 429 to 433.
They recently opened new stores for the first time in South Florida.

Detroit

Believe it or not, there are no Cava’s in the entire state of Michigan!
OK, maybe that’s not soooo shocking for the home of Detroit-style pizza.
But the Motor City will be getting at least one Cava in 2025!

Indianapolis

Actually, this one’s already open.
The first Indianapolis Cava opened in a suburb on March 14, 2025.

Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh loses its in-state rivalry with Philly on this one.
Cava already has nine Philadelphia-area locations.
But Pittsburgh will be getting its first in 2025!

Where Should Cava Go Next?

Cava’s growing fast and adding Detroit, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh to its roster of cities by the end of 2025.
But Ohio doesn’t have one yet.
Neither do states like Mississippi, Minnesota, or Washington state.
