In case you missed it, Chick-fil-A is branching out beyond its famous chicken sandwiches with an entirely new restaurant concept centered on coffee and specialty drinks. Late last year, the fast-food giant announced the launch of Daybright, a standalone beverage-focused brand that will debut in the Atlanta area, marking one of the company’s biggest experiments outside its traditional menu.
A new concept focused on beverages
Unlike a typical Chick-fil-A restaurant, Daybright doesn’t serve the chain’s signature chicken sandwiches, waffle fries or lemonade. Instead, customers can expect a menu built around specialty coffees, smoothies, cold-pressed juices and other handcrafted beverages. The concept also features a limited food menu that is separate from Chick-fil-A’s core offerings.
Why Chick-fil-A is making the move
The launch comes as major restaurant chains race to capture more beverage sales, one of the fastest-growing and most profitable segments of the quick-service industry. Consumers, especially younger customers, are increasingly seeking premium coffees, energy drinks, refreshers and customizable beverages throughout the day.
Brands including Taco Bell and McDonald’s have also introduced beverage-focused concepts and menu expansions in an effort to win a larger share of the growing market.
An innovation beyond chicken
Daybright is being developed through Chick-fil-A’s innovation division, Red Wagon Ventures, which was created to test new restaurant concepts. Company officials say the new brand is designed to stand on its own rather than function as a Chick-fil-A spinoff, offering unique beverages and menu items that differ from those served at existing Chick-fil-A restaurants.
Whether Daybright expands beyond its first location remains to be seen. Chick-fil-A has not announced plans for additional stores, but the concept could serve as a testing ground for future beverage innovations if customers respond well
