Learn how to make clarified butter (ghee) at home from grass-fed butter!

Clarified butter (ghee) is butter oil that can be used for cooking (particularly good for high temperature cooking). Ghee is also called seafood butter (it is often served with lobster and other seafood at restaurants). Clarified butter is free of casein and milk protein, which is a plus for those who are unable to tolerate milk protein. Not only is ghee easy to make, its very nourishing, especially if its made with grass-fed butter (which I recommend you use).
Ingredients (just one!)
- 1/2 pound of butter
Instructions
- Place butter in a small bowl in an oven set at 200 degrees.
- After 30 minutes you will notice the butter oil and milk solids separate.
- Use a spoon to skim the foam off from the top. Line a mesh strainer with cheese cloth and pour butter through to remove any other milk solids.
- Store in a tightly covered jar in the refrigerator.
