Alcoholic Drinks
X-Rated Fusion Liqueur

X-Rated Fusion is a vibrant, fruity liqueur perfect for adding a tropical twist to your favorite cocktails. This striking pink drink combines premium French vodka with the bold flavors of blood orange, mango, and passion fruit, creating a sweet and exotic blend. First launched in 2004 and introduced to the U.S. in 2006, it’s bottled at 17% ABV (34 proof) and is reportedly gluten-free! Its taste is rich and inviting, with a strong mango flavor balanced by the tangy sweetness of blood orange and a smooth, lingering aftertaste. Perfect for pairing with fruity vodkas, tequilas, or sparkling wines, X-Rated Fusion is a delicious choice for romantic evenings or fun nights in with friends.
Xalapa Punch

Xalapa Punch is a flavorful mix of rum, brandy, and red wine, elevated with the rich taste of black tea and the brightness of orange rinds. To make it, start by heating 2 cups of black tea in a saucepan over low heat. Add the grated rind of two oranges (use a peeler or grater) and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool, then stir in 1 cup of honey or sugar until it dissolves completely. Pour the tea mixture into a punch bowl filled with ice, and mix in 1 quart each of dark rum, apple brandy, and dry red wine. Finally, garnish with diced oranges and lemons for a refreshing touch, and you’re ready to serve this intriguing punch.
Xanadu Cocktail

The Xanadu cocktail is the ultimate tropical drink, combining sweet, tangy, and fruity flavors that instantly transport you to a beachside paradise. With the perfect blend of pineapple juice, lime juice, cream of coconut, and white rum, every sip feels like a burst of summer. This drink is all about fun, often topped with colorful garnishes that give it a vacation vibe, making it a hit at beach parties and summer hangouts. Bartenders love putting their own spin on it, turning the Xanadu into their own signature favorite. To make one, simply shake white rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and lime juice with ice, then strain it into a tall glass filled with ice cubes. Whether you use a highball or Collins glass, the layers of this drink look as good as they taste, and it’s guaranteed to make you smile.
Xanadu Wines

I couldn’t create this list without mentioning one of my favorite wineries. Since 1977, Xanadu wines in Western Australia have reflected the beauty and energy of Margaret River, a place so vibrant it draws people in unexpectedly, in their wines. At Xanadu, there’s a special connection between the land and the people, a balance that brings out the best in both. This harmony is what gives our wines their unique character and energy. I have mainly sampled their reds, which are beautifully balanced and never feel too heavy or oaky, while the whites are crisp and clear, perfect for that Australian summertime heat!
Xanté
In Europe, the pear and Cognac-based liqueur Xanté is often enjoyed on its own, either neat or over ice. However, Xanté is also perfect for cocktails, adding its unique flavor to any mix. At 76 proof, this liqueur gets a subtle vanilla note from being aged in French oak barrels, and it’s best served cold, whether on its own or in a drink. For example, you can try the Xanté Berry cocktail: muddle 3 fresh strawberries in a shaker, then add 1.5 oz of Xanté, 1 ¾ oz of lemon juice, 1 oz of simple syrup, and a bar spoon of strawberry liqueur. Shake with ice, double strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a sugar-rimmed edge, and garnish with a strawberry. Refreshing and delicious!
Xeres (Sherry)

Sherry, also called Jerez or Xérès, is a type of fortified wine, meaning extra alcohol is added during a second step of production (but not by dumping grain alcohol into it). The name “Sherry” came from the British struggling to pronounce “Jerez,” the modern version of “Xérès,” which is the Andalusian region in southern Spain where it is made. There are two main types of authentic Sherry, and neither is like the sweetened commercial brands. Fino Sherry, along with its similar cousin Manzanilla, is pale, dry, and lively, with only about 15% alcohol. It’s delicate and needs to be served chilled, as it can lose its appeal quickly if left open too long. It’s best enjoyed fresh, ideally within a few months of bottling. The other main style is darker and nutty, with rich, complex flavors developed during extended aging in oak barrels.
Xi Feng Jiu

Xifeng Liquor is a standout in Chinese Baijiu culture, blending centuries-old brewing traditions with deep cultural heritage. Crafted in Xifeng Town in Baoji, Shaanxi, this renowned spirit is one of China’s “Eight Famous Baijiu” and represents a unique style called “Fengxiang-type.” Made primarily from sorghum, its production involves meticulous processes like fermentation in mud cellars, distillation, and aging, resulting in a smooth, balanced flavor that is mildly fragrant, sweet, and refreshing with a clean, lingering finish. With a history spanning over 2,600 years, Xifeng Liquor has been celebrated since the Tang Dynasty, when it was praised in poetry and served as a tribute to the imperial court. Over time, it has become a symbol of Chinese culture, appearing in literature, historical accounts, and even films!
Xicaru Mezcal

Fernando Santibañez saw an opportunity to craft a mezcal that balances complexity and tradition while maintaining the bold character of authentic mezcal. Xicaru Reposado is carefully aged in small batches to honor both the maguey plant and time-honored methods. Made from 100% Maguey espadin, it starts with the agave being cooked in a traditional conical stone oven with mesquite and ocote woods. The agave is then mashed using a tahona, naturally fermented, and double-distilled before being aged for two to four months in medium-toasted American oak barrels. This process creates a smooth, refined mezcal with rich, nuanced flavors.
Xingu Black Beer

Xingu is a Brazilian beer brand that was first created in June 1986 by Amazon, Inc., a beer import company based in Brattleboro, Vermont. The company was founded by Anne Latchis and four of her friends, with guidance from Anne’s husband, beer historian Alan D. Eames. The idea for Xingu was inspired by the tradition of women in the Amazon region of Brazil brewing a fermented drink from manioc root. The team chose the black lager style, or schwarzbier, to revive a nearly extinct type of beer in the U.S. market. The brand was named after the Xingu River, a tributary of the Amazon River, to highlight the importance of conserving the rainforest and supporting the Kayapo native tribes who live there. Xingu Black Beer is known for its smooth, easy-drinking taste, with hints of dark malts, caramel, and a high level of carbonation. It pairs perfectly with BBQ and almost anything from the grill.
XO Café Tequila Liqueur

Patrón XO Café is a unique mix of high-quality tequila and the rich, natural flavors of premium coffee. Unlike most coffee liqueurs, it has a drier taste with just a hint of sweetness, letting the bold coffee flavor really shine. With an alcohol content of 35%, this liqueur packs a stronger kick, enhancing the coffee essence even more. I like to add this to my espresso martinis, but it is also great poured into a hot chocolate. Or just on its own over ice for an iced coffee with a kick!
XO Cognac

In 1870, Maurice Hennessy crafted Hennessy X.O to share with his friends, creating a new style of cognac that became an iconic symbol of the Hennessy brand. Known as the Original, Hennessy X.O is rich and powerful, made from eaux-de-vie aged in young barrels that develop a bold character and smooth roundness over time. But what do the labels VS, V.S.O.P, and XO mean? VS, or “Very Special,” is aged for a minimum of two years and offers a vibrant, bold flavor, perfect for cocktails. V.S.O.P, or “Very Superior Old Pale,” requires at least four years of aging, resulting in a smoother, more refined taste that’s great for sipping neat or on the rocks. Finally, XO, meaning “Extra Old,” is aged for at least six years but often much longer. This category is known for its rich, complex flavors and luxurious feel, ideal for special occasions, with Hennessy, Remy Martin, and Martell offering some of the finest XOs.
XO Sparkler

The XO Sparkler is a classy and delicious cocktail that combines the rich flavors of Patron tequila, Patron coffee liqueur, and chilled champagne. To make this, grab a shaker and fill it halfway with ice. Add 0.5 oz of Patron XO Cafe and 1 oz of Patron Silver Tequila, then shake it up until everything is nicely blended. Strain the mix into a chilled champagne flute, top it off with sparkling, and you’re ready to enjoy! This recipe serves one and is the perfect mix of elegance and flavor—definitely a “class in a glass!”
Xtabentún
Xtabentún is a traditional anise-flavored liqueur from Mexico’s Yucatán region, made with anise seeds, fermented honey from the nectar of xtabentún flowers, and rum. The addition of rum gives it the nickname “distilled honey,” though this can be misleading since the honey is fermented rather than distilled. Still, it’s considered a spirit because of the rum content. The drink traces its origins back to balché, a ceremonial liquor made by the Maya. When Spanish conquistadores found the original recipe too strong, they modified it by adding anise and removing tree bark and corn. Xtabentún is typically served straight, chilled, or over ice with honey, but it can also be mixed into creative drinks. Popular combinations include “Mayan coffee,” made with tequila and xtabentún, or a “Maya margarita,” which adds lime. Mixing it with wine results in a drink called olhombre, meaning “clashing” in Yukatek Maya.
Xtra Pale Ale

XPA, or Extra Pale Ale, is a beer style that falls somewhere between an American Pale Ale and a West Coast IPA. It’s not easily defined, and its interpretations vary widely, sparking debates among both homebrewers and professionals. American Pale Ales are usually well-balanced with a mix of maltiness and hop-forward flavors, while West Coast IPAs are more bitter, aggressively hoppy, and higher in alcohol. XPA blurs the lines, often landing somewhere in between. The “extra” in XPA is up to the brewer—it might mean extra pale in color, lighter in body, or packed with extra hops or strength. Some believe the name refers to the “X” markings on old British ale barrels to show alcohol strength, though no formal guidelines exist for the style. What’s clear is that XPA is all about easy drinking, making it perfect for summer BBQs or a refreshing lawnmower beer.
XUXU

XUXU is a strawberry liqueur from Germany, made with fresh strawberry mash, vodka, and a hint of lime to balance the sweetness. With an impressive 66% fruit content and no added sugar beyond what’s naturally in the fruit, XUXU delivers vibrant, fresh strawberry flavors and aromas. This sweet and fruity liqueur is an all-purpose wonder. it’s great as a shot, mixes beautifully into cocktails and long drinks, and is even used in desserts like custards and ice creams!
Non-Alcoholic Drinks
Xango Juice

Mangosteen is packed with nutrients that make it incredibly beneficial for your health. This tropical fruit contains 72 xanthones which are a powerful and often overlooked class of nutrients. Xanthones are believed to have amazing health benefits and aren’t commonly found in other foods or drinks we consume. Mangosteen also provides other important plant-based nutrients, like catechins (similar to those in green tea), polysaccharides (found in aloe vera and wolfberry), and proanthocyanidins (like those in red berries). XanGo Juice, made from whole mangosteen fruit puree, combines these nutrients into a powerful drink. Research suggests the xanthones in XanGo Juice may help to fight free radicals that can damage cells and contribute to conditions like heart disease and cancer.
Xiao Yao San Tea

Xiao Yao San, an ancient blend of Chinese herbs, may offer relief for modern-day stress and anxiety. According to licensed Chinese herbalist Song Luo, MPH, LAc, this formula works by improving the flow of “qi” (pronounced “chi”), which is considered vital for overall health in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In TCM, qi represents energy that circulates through the body, and when it flows smoothly, it supports physical and mental well-being. Stress, anxiety, and depression are seen as blockages, creating a “traffic jam” that disrupts this flow. Xiao Yao San, meaning “free and easy wanderer,” targets the liver, spleen, and stomach to help restore balance. This 700-year-old remedy combines eight herbs: bupleurum and white peony root to support liver function, Chinese angelica root for healthy blood circulation, white atractylodes and poria mushroom to aid digestion and calm the mind, peppermint for mental clarity, ginger root to promote energy flow, and licorice root to unify the effects of the blend.
Xigua Juice

Xigua, also known as Chinese watermelon, is a special type of watermelon mainly grown in China and East Asia. It stands out with its green rind and bright red or pink flesh, speckled with black seeds. Unlike the round watermelons commonly seen in Western countries, xigua is usually longer and can be much heavier, and it’s a favorite for summer picnics and gatherings. Its flavor is a refreshing mix of sweetness and a slight tang, while its juicy and crisp texture adds a satisfying crunch. Whether eaten on its own, added to salads, blended into smoothies, or turned into juice, xigua is a delicious way to enjoy the summer heat.
Xing Tea

Xingtea is a refreshing, all-natural drink made with fresh filtered water, honey, green tea, cane sugar, and natural fruit flavors. Crafted with care, it was created to meet the growing demand for healthier, all-natural tea beverages. Using high-quality green and black tea blends, along with simple, natural ingredients, Xingtea delivers great taste in every sip. With ten all-natural flavors and three sugar-free options, there’s something for everyone. Flavors focus on blending a fruit flavor with honey, such as Lemon and Honey and Raspberry and Honey, plus others, such as Cherry Mint Mango, Pomegranate, Sugar-Free Mango, Half & Half, and Sweet Tea. Something for everyone!
Ximenia Juice

Ximenia americana, also known as tallow wood, hog plum, yellow plum, or sea lemon, is a lesser-known tropical fruit with surprising versatility. Native to Africa and South America, it is part of a group of species that includes Ximenia caffra, with both valued for their unique taste and uses. The fruit has a flavor that combines sweet and tart notes, often compared to a mix of plum, lime, and apricot. While the unripe fruit is quite sour, it becomes sweeter as it ripens. Ximenia can be eaten fresh, pickled, or used as a lemon substitute in fish dishes. It also works well in juices, jams, or even alcoholic beverages like beer. Despite its relative obscurity, Ximenia has the potential to shine as a hidden gem among tropical fruits.
Xmas Punch

This festive and flavorful holiday punch is perfect for parties, loaded with cranberries, oranges, and pomegranates. You can keep it non-alcoholic or add a splash of rum or vodka for an extra festive touch. To make it, slice one orange and combine it with 1 cup of cranberries and ½ cup of pomegranate seeds in a large pitcher or punch bowl. Then, pour in 2 cups each of cranberry juice and orange juice, 1 cup of pomegranate juice, and 2 cups of lemon-lime soda like Sprite or 7Up. For an alcoholic version, mix in 1 cup of white rum or your favorite spirit. Serve over ice in glasses and garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs, extra orange slices, and cranberries for a festive finish. If you’re using a large punch bowl or dispenser, feel free to double the recipe to serve a crowd!
Xocolatl (Aztec Hot Chocolate)

Hot chocolate has a fascinating history that dates back to the Mayans around 1500 AD. Known as “Xocolatl,” which translates to “bitter drink,” it was made by grinding cocoa beans with spices and serving it as a beverage. Since sugar wasn’t available, the drink was bitter and often served cold, with flavors of chili, vanilla, and cinnamon. It was considered a luxury, enjoyed by royals, nobility, and even warriors for an energy boost. This modern version of Xocolatl stays true to its roots with a rich blend of chocolate, cinnamon, chili, and vanilla, but adds a touch of sweetness to suit today’s tastes. Whether served hot or cold, it’s a flavorful, slightly spicy take on the original hot chocolate that lets the deep, delicious flavors shine through.
Xoconostle Juice

Xoconostle is a tropical cactus fruit native to Mexico and Central America, prized for its unique flavor and versatility in both sweet and savory dishes. Known for its sweet and sour taste, it’s often compared to a tangerine but with a slightly softer, juicy texture that also has a bit of crunch. Its tartness balances its sweetness perfectly, while hints of citrus, earthiness, and tropical flavors give it a complex and distinctive profile. Xoconostle is a great snack on its own or a refreshing addition to salads and other meals. To make a simple drink, blend the cleaned fruit with 4 cups of water and ½ cup of sugar for about a minute, then strain out the pulp. Stir in another 4 cups of water, and serve it over ice. There’s no need to add lime, as the fruit’s natural tartness provides all the zing you need.

Xylocarp Juice

A xylocarp is any type of fruit that has a tough, woody outer shell. The word comes from the Greek terms “xylon,” meaning wood, and “karpos,” meaning fruit. Some well-known examples include coconuts, which have a hard brown shell with white, fleshy meat and a clear liquid inside; durians, famous for their spiky, greenish-brown shell and strong-smelling yellow flesh; and jackfruit, a large, green spiky fruit with fibrous yellow flesh often used as a meat substitute. Breadfruit is another example, with its round, green spiky skin and starchy white inside that’s commonly boiled or roasted. Lastly, there’s the osage orange, a smaller fruit with a bumpy, wrinkled greenish-yellow exterior and white, pulpy flesh often used for making jams and jellies. These fruits all share a similar characteristic: their tough outer layer protects the juicy parts inside.
