Hundreds of Florida workers are facing an uncertain future after Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) filed WARN notices affecting four facilities across the state.
The wine and spirits distributor has notified state officials that 1,046 positions could be impacted as the company moves forward with a planned sale of operations to Reyes Beverage Group. Layoffs are scheduled to begin on or within 14 days of June 21 and continue through July 5.
Tampa sees largest workforce impact
The largest reduction is planned at RNDC’s Tampa facility on Savarese Circle North, where 393 employees have been included in the WARN notice. Tampa accounts for more than one-third of the Florida jobs affected by the restructuring and represents the company’s largest impacted location in the state.
Deerfield Beach faces 363 potential layoffs
In South Florida, RNDC reported that 363 employees at its Deerfield Beach location could be affected. The facility ranks as the second-largest Florida site included in the company’s workforce reduction plans.
Jacksonville operation affected
The company also filed notice for 169 employees at its Jacksonville distribution facility. Jacksonville serves as one of RNDC’s key Florida markets and is among the four locations included in the pending transaction.
Pensacola workers await outcome
Another 121 employees at RNDC’s Pensacola facility are included in the WARN filing. While smaller than the other affected locations, the notice highlights the broad reach of the company’s restructuring across Florida.
Sale to Reyes Beverage Group drives restructuring
RNDC says the notices are conditional and tied to the anticipated sale of operations in Florida and several other states to Reyes Beverage Group. The company has indicated that many employees may ultimately receive offers to continue working under the new ownership, though final employment decisions have not yet been announced.
