This two-ingredient ginger tea recipe is easy to make and requires only fresh ginger root and water!
Ginger tea was my go-to during my pregnancies. It was the only thing that helped with my morning sickness and nausea. Ginger is a wonderful herb that helps alleviate motion sickness, sore throats, and upset stomachs. Potential health benefits aside, this herbal tea is super tasty and easy to make.
There are a few ways to make ginger tea at home. You can buy tea bags, use ginger powder, or fresh ginger root. My favorite of the three is with fresh ginger root. The flavor is the best, in my opinion.
How To Make Fresh Ginger Tea
For this recipe you will need fresh ginger root and hot water. Sweeten with raw honey, sugar or maple syrup if you like.
Heat the water in a tea kettle.
While the water is heating, prep the ginger by chopping it into small pieces.
Put the ginger slices into a tea infuser and place the infuser over a mug.
Pour the boiling water over the ginger and let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes.
Once the ginger tea is ready, remove the ginger, add a drizzle of honey, and top it with fresh lemon or fresh lemon juice. You can reuse the ginger to make another cup of tea, so reserve it for another use if you like.
Variations:
- Ginger Turmeric Tea: Add a few slices of fresh turmeric and black pepper to make immune-boosting tea! Ginger and turmeric are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and taste great together in tea.
- Ginger Cinnamon Tea: Add a cinnamon stick or a dash of ground cinnamon to the tea to make a delicious spiced hot ginger tea.
- Iced Ginger Mint Tea: Brew the tea as directed with sliced ginger and add fresh mint to the infuser. Sweet with desired sweetener and pour the tea over ice.
