A few years ago, when we moved into a new place, some friends brought us a housewarming gift. Inside the box was a beautiful white ceramic salad bowl, a couple of pink paisley napkins, and nest on top of those, was a large bottle of ground turmeric.
I was so flabbergasted by their thoughtfulness, that all I could say in response was, “Wow. You get me. You really, really, get me.”
I mean, who gives turmeric as a housewarming present?
Very cool people, that’s who!
So, every time I make this insanely delicious and healthy drink, I just silently toast to their honor.
Because friends who give the gift of turmeric, are the best friends of all.
Note: If you’d like to make this recipe paleo, Whole30, and keto, just omit the honey.
Grean tea, turmeric, and apple cider drink ingredients and substitutions
- 1 jasmine green or Konacha green tea bag
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon organic honey
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
As written, this drink is dairy-free. To make it vegan, paleo, Whole30, and Keto-friendly, omit the honey and consider an alternative sweetener. (Maybe maple syrup?)
You can also substitute orange juice for lemon juice. It would be lovely in this drink. Note, you may want it to be unsweetened orange juice if you’d like for it to be more paleo, Whole30, or keto friendly.
You can make a big batch of this ahead of time, and just reheat it. Or, you could even serve it over ice!
Grean tea, turmeric, and apple cider drink recipe instructions
This one’s easy to make. Just:
Place the green tea bag in a mug.
Cover with boiling water.
Let steep for 5 minutes.
Remove tea bag.
Stir in apple cider vinegar, honey, lemon juice, and turmeric.
Drink, and enjoy!
