Why make homemade baking powder? It’s grain free, corn free and just plain delicious. You’ll never run out of baking supplies ever again!
Why would I want to make homemade baking powder? There are many reasons you may want to consider making your own baking powder.
Corn starch is the main ingredient in commercial baking powder. With over 80% of our corn now GMO (in the U.S.), avoiding commercial baking powder would be yet another way to rid your pantry of GMO ingredients. If you have a corn allergy or if you’re on a grain-free diet you’ll want to avoid commercial baking powder. Knowing how to make homemade baking powder can come in handy when you’re out of baking powder and don’t feel like running to the store to buy more.

Why does my coconut bread note rise much. It is fully cooked and taste good but small and dense
Hi, Isn’t the arrowroot a starch and so has the same health effects as corn starch (minus corn allergens)? All starch spikes blood sugar and so from a health perspective use comes with a huge caveat. Ive had great success with making a baking using baking soda and cream of tartar ; no starch needed. Learned that online; can’t remember the source. Sorry
great recipes
Thank you. How long is this baking powder good for?
Is arrowroot flour the same as the arrowroot powder? ( the picture vs the ingredients). Thx so much
you don’t need the arrowroot, just the bicarb soda and the cream of tartar.
The arrowroot helps the mix not to cake up.
Thanks I was wondering the same thing! Also How long should this be good for?
How long does this last?
Did you link to the wrong baking soda? “Contains sodium phosphate, bicarbonate of soda, cornstarch, and calcium phosphate.” I had to run and check my package of Bob’s baking soda I get at the store, and it is pure baking soda, phew! Was worried it had cornstarch.
Yes! Thank you! Wow, I thought they only made one baking soda. I’ll fix the link.
I have made my own using equal part soda and tarter. what does the arrowroot do?
I love this! Thanks for posting!
This looks like a LOT of baking powder! How long will this stay effective? I have a big problem with baking powder expiring before I can use it all. 🙁
You can cut to recipe down if you like. 1 part baking soda, 1 part arrowroot and 2 parts cream of tartar. 🙂
You had posted sometime earlier a picture that gave you /how to substitute coconut flour for regular flour’. It was how much to use when making stuff. It was called ‘coconut flour substitutions’. Could you share that again or show me where to find it.
That wasn’t me. I haven’t posted anything like that.Sorry!
