Refreshing AND good for your gut?!

Metamucil is a dietary supplement that can aid digestion, lower cholesterol, and regulate blood sugar levels. Its main ingredient is psyllium husk, which is a plant-based dietary fiber that has a natural gelling ability. Fiber is an important nutrient for gut health! The recommended daily fiber intake for an adult is at least 19 grams per day, according to the Mayo Clinic. Major sources of fiber are whole grains, beans, fruits, and leafy greens.
If you are having trouble consuming enough fiber during the day, Metamucil can help! It comes in capsules and gummies, but one of the tastiest ways to take it is mixing it into drinks. Depending on the type of powder you get, follow the daily recommended dose when adding to liquids. Always mix into cool or cold drinks as warm water will cause the psyllium husk to gel more quickly.
Our 3 Delicious Metamucil Mocktails use grapefruit juice, chocolate milk, and coconut water to make increasing your daily fiber intake an enjoyable experience! We chose the Sugar-Free Orange Smooth Powder which gives each mocktail a juicy orange flavor. Mix up, drink up, and enjoy a happy gut!
Ingredients for the Metamucil Mocktails
Grapefruit Spritz

Grapefruit Juice – Grapefruits are excellent sources of vitamins and nutrients. Grapefruit juice can help with immune support and weight management. It also pairs well with the orange tang of the Metamucil powder!
Metamucil Orange Smooth – Boost your fiber with this orange flavored supplement!
Sweetener – Because the Metamucil powder is sugar-free, a bit of sweetener helps take the bite out of the grapefruit juice. We used maple syrup, but you can use honey, flavored syrup, or other sweetened powder.
Sparkling Water – A fruity sparkling water elevates this drink with its refreshing bubbles!
Lemon peel garnish – Is a garnish necessary? Maybe not, but it makes this drink look delightful! You can also twist the peel over the drink to add a lemony essence.
Iced Orange Mocha

Chocolate Milk – Chocolate and orange are a famous flavor duo! Use either dairy or non-dairy milk for this recipe.
Metamucil Orange Smooth – Mix the powder very well with the milk, as it tends to thicken after several minutes.

Vanilla Extract – Vanilla extract adds another layer of sweetness to the drink and tastes amazing with the chocolate and orange flavors.
Espresso Powder (optional) – Because warm or hot liquids should be avoided with Metamucil due to the fast gelling ability of the psyllium, using espresso powder will add the taste coffee without having to brew it first.
Tropical Twist

Coconut Water – Coconut water is so refreshing and contains electrolytes which increase hydration. Its tropical flavor is also so tasty with the orange Metamucil!
Metamucil Orange Smooth – Keep your gut healthy with this natural fiber additive!
Sweetener – Coconut water is slightly sweet, so taste the drink first before adding any more. Use maple syrup, honey, or your preferred sweetener.
Lime – Squeeze half a lime into the drink and then add a lime slice garnish. So zesty!
