Intro

Cracker Barrel already earned my loyalty when they decided NOT to pull a Waffle House and didn’t add a surcharge to their eggs.
With egg prices skyrocketing, they decided to emphasize hospitality over profits. And I’ll always remember it.
However, there’s other good news: Cracker Barrel is adding a ton of new, delicious dishes!
I’ve covered some of my overall favorites elsewhere, but today I thought we’d focus in on a handful of big breakfast winners that I think you’re gonna love…

Intro (continued…)

Because, let’s face it…
These are some really good new dishes, and Cracker Barrel has needed some good news.
The chain has been shrinking for years – in fact, earlier this year, it exited Maine entirely by closing its only restaurant in the state, in South Portland.
These new breakfast options feel like a breath of fresh air.
Let’s get started with one of my personal favorites…

#1: Fresh strawberry French toast bake

Do you remember IHOP’s old stuffed French toast dishes?
This is like that, but way better.
They soak the bread in vanilla custard (!), top it with cheesecake filling (!!), and then mound strawberries and powdered sugar on top of that.
And then, just in case you didn’t get enough strawberry, they serve it with strawberry syrup as well.
Plus, you get your choice of meat…

Meat choices

Cracker Barrel’s meat sides are pretty standard fare:
– Bacon (three slices)
– Smoked sausage (two patties)
– Impossible sausage (two patties)
– Spicy chicken sausage (two links)
– Sugar cured or country ham (one slice)

#2: Oreo stuffed cheesecake pancake breakfast

This might be the most decadent breakfast ever?
Because, while the cheesecake topping is on top of the French toast…these pancakes are stuffed to overflowing with it.
Plus Oreo cookie pieces, whipped cream, chocolate drizzle…basically it’s everything you could want as dessert for breakfast.
It also comes with your choice of a meat side, plus two eggs.
Let’s talk about those egg options real quick…

Your egg options

Cracker Barrel has all the standard egg options, plus a few extras:
– Scrambled
– Over easy
– Over medium
– Over well
– Scrambled
– Plus egg whites, for the health conscious

#3: Pancake plates galore

Ok, obviously Cracker Barrel already had pancakes, but they’re certainly expanded their options and added some fun new flavors.
Each pancake plate comes with two pancakes, two eggs, and a breakfast meat of your choice.
And there are quite a few fun flavors, all priced the same:

Your (new) options

– Blueberry pancakes
– Chocolate chip pancakes
– Pecan pancakes
– Strawberry pancakes
– Cinnamon apple pancakes (fried apples on top, plus a dab of whipped cream)
– Country peach pancakes
Good deal, great flavors.

#4: Shrimp n’ grits skillet

For those who prefer their breakfasts on the savory side…
And who like a little Cajun zest first thing in the morning…
The shrimp n’ grits skillet is a natural fit.
Not shockingly, it has shrimp, andouille sausage, a creole sauce, grits, onions, celery, and red peppers.
Plus parmesan bread. Simple, straightforward, delicious.

#5: Cracker Barrel classics family meal

No “new” dishes here, but an awesome new combo for value-conscious diners.
The price point is just $40.99, which is an absolute steal considering there’s enough food to feed five people. (And honestly, I’ve stretched it to more like eight.) You get:
– Scrambled eggs
– Sawmill gravy
– Buttermilk biscuits
– Choice of breakfast meat
– Hashbrown casserole or fried apples

Plus, there’s a cool new drink

I didn’t include this in the list because it’s not a breakfast that you can eat and feel full, but their new pancake latte (hot or iced) is pretty good and definitely worth a try.
Cracker Barrel has been a little hit-or-miss when it comes to drinks…
But this one is definitely a hit.

Pancake latte

The pancake latte has espresso (either served hot or over ice) with steamed milk and maple flavor added.
Then they top the whole thing with whipped cream and drizzle it with their syrup.
It’s a little on the expensive side ($4.19), but it’s a nice upgrade if you’re looking to elevate your breakfast a little further!

Summary

So there you have it – five excellent new breakfasts (plus a great drink) courtesy of good ol’ Cracker Barrel.
I bet we’re going to see lots of great new ideas out of them in the coming months, and I’m excited to keep coming back and trying all the new stuff they’re thinking up!
But here’s the big question:
