Pennsylvania unfortunately has some big layoffs on the horizon, with 800+ workers set to lose their jobs as two plants have announced closure plans.
That’s on top of three other facilities that had already announced closures…
Not to mention additional big losses in Philadelphia specifically…

Allentown is poised to take a big hit, as United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) has announced plans to shutter a distribution center with an estimated 716 jobs impacted.
The closure will be completed sometime in 2026, so there’s at least some notice and workers can start making plans.

Cargill also recently closed down its chocolate facility in Hazleton township, with 102 confirmed layoffs.
All told, that’s over 800 jobs lost as the economic losses continue to pile up.
Every planned closure is unique, and so are the lives disrupted.
So if you’re a worker impacted, please know: You are seen, you are valued, you deserved better, and I hope that the next chapter is kinder than this one.
