Intro

I’ll be honest: I love chicken nuggets. Always have.
They’re bite-sized, golden, crispy little pieces of deliciousness — and I’m clearly not the only one who thinks so.
But which nuggets do Americans love most?

Intro (continued…)

Thanks to the folks at YouGov, we have some data on which restaurant brands Americans know and like — and from that, we can get a pretty good idea of how they feel about their chicken nuggets.
For this list, I only included restaurants that serve actual chicken nuggets—not tenders, not boneless wings. I’m specifically talking about chicken nuggets, which I defined as bite-sized pieces of fried chicken.
(And surprisingly enough – neither KFC nor Chick-fil-A ranked #1. And McDonald’s wasn’t even top three!)
With that, let’s get into the rankings…

#10: Carl’s Jr.

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 85%
Percent who like it: 48%
My take: Carl’s Jr. serves crispy, star-shaped chicken nuggets that look fun — but they don’t taste like much. The breading’s fine, but the flavor just isn’t there. But for kids? They’re probably a hit.

#9: Jack’s

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 53%
Percent who like it: 30%
My take: If you’re from the South, you know Jack’s. The nuggets aren’t anything fancy — they’re just crispy, salty, and hit the spot. I don’t hear people rave about them, but honestly? They’re solid. And the sauces are solid too.

#8: Sonic

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 96%
Percent who like it: 57%
My take: Sonic’s nuggets aren’t top-tier, but they’re solid when you can get them fresh. Pair them with tots and a limeade, and it’s a pretty good drive-in meal.

#7: Burger King

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 98%
Percent who like it: 59%
My take: Look, BK’s nuggets aren’t amazing — but they’re crazy cheap and honestly kinda addictive. Crispy, golden, and available in bulk. I respect it.

#6: McDonald’s

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 97%
Percent who like it: 59%
My take: McNuggets used to be unbeatable. These days, though? Without sauce, they taste a bit like cardboard. Still, they’re consistent and nostalgic — and for many people, that’s enough to keep them in the rotation.

#5: Zaxby’s

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 65%
Percent who like it: 40%
My take: OK, Zaxby’s has chicken fingers, but they’re so small I included them here. Honestly, they’re alright, but it’s really the Zaxby’s sauce that makes these worth it.

#4: KFC

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 98%
Percent who like it: 65%
My take: KFC’s nuggets are seasoned like their classic fried chicken — and that’s a good thing. They’re juicy, crispy, and definitely a step up from their older popcorn-style bites.

#3: Wendy’s

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 97%
Percent who like it: 65%
My take: Wendy’s Spicy Nuggets have a serious fan base, and it’s easy to see why. They’ve got a nice kick, good texture, and don’t feel like a fast-food afterthought. I can see why they’re in the top three.

#2: Chick-fil-A

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 96%
Percent who like it: 65%
My take: It’s no surprise that Americans love Chick-fil-A. Their nuggets are consistent, high quality, and made with real chicken. Toss in their dipping sauces — especially Chick-fil-A or Polynesian — and you’re in good shape.

#1: Popeyes

Percent of Americans who have heard of it: 96%
Percent who like it: 66%
My take: Popeyes launched their chicken nuggets in 2021, riding the wave of their viral sandwich — and they nailed it. Same crispy buttermilk batter, same bold flavor. Unfortunately, they’ve since been discontinued (only the tenders remain, which are similar), and honestly, that feels like a miss. They were that good. I’ve kept them here as an honorable mention.

Summary

So there you have it — America’s 10 most popular fast-food chains that serve chicken nuggets, based on YouGov data.
I have to say, each of them is pretty good!
I’m a little surprised Raising Cane’s or Shake Shack didn’t make the list…
But here’s the real question:
