Taco Bell’s Birthday Cake Empanada has plenty of competition for attention recently. The chain’s new Chicken Crunchadilla arrived on menus October 15, and early reactions suggest that this little chicken-and-cheese snack could become a fan favorite.
In an October 15 Reddit discussion, one customer urged others to order more than one. Another said the Sriracha version was “the best item they’ve made in a long time,” especially at a price of $2. Other commenters compared the new arrival favorably with Taco Bell’s much larger, pricier quesadilla.

What’s inside the new Crunchadilla?
Despite the name, this isn’t simply a miniature quesadilla. Taco Bell’s Classic Chicken Crunchadilla combines grilled chicken, a three-cheese blend, sour cream and Creamy Jalapeño Sauce with a crisp tortilla shell tucked inside a grilled flour tortilla. The Sriracha Chicken Crunchadilla follows the same basic idea, swapping in Creamy Sriracha Sauce for a little extra heat.
Both versions are listed at 280 calories on Taco Bell’s online menu. They’re positioned as snack-size options rather than full meals, a distinction that matters when customers start comparing portions and prices. At participating locations, the advertised starting price is $2 each, though the amount at checkout can be higher.
Customers are impressed with the crunch and the price
The enthusiastic Reddit thread was filled with people thinking about repeat orders. One commenter said three Crunchadillas would cost less than a chicken quesadilla at their restaurant, while another liked getting a crunchy option without spending much. A customer who had tried the Sriracha version called it the best Taco Bell item in some time.
That excitement extends beyond the original discussion. In a separate October 15 post, a customer described the Classic Chicken version as a “10/10” and praised its balance of sauce, chicken and crunch. Another fan said the Sriracha version was satisfying enough alongside a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito to make a filling meal.
But the $2 deal depends on where you order
Not every fan sees the same bargain. One commenter in the original thread reported a local price of $2.89, even while saying the item looked worth trying. Taco Bell’s own online menus also show location differences: some restaurants list the Crunchadilla at $2, while others charge more.
There’s also the taste question. While some customers love the Sriracha version’s heat, one Reddit commenter preferred the milder Classic flavor, and another said neither version was worth ordering again. A customer reviewing the latest menu said the regular Chicken Crunchadilla tasted good but could use more chicken.
For now, the Crunchadilla’s strongest selling point may be that it knows what it wants to be: a crispy, saucy bite that can be added to an order without the price of another full-size entrée. Whether it earns a permanent spot on the menu is another question, but the first wave of fans certainly wouldn’t mind another round.
