Texas has the most Chick-fil-A restaurants in the country, but its home state of Georgia takes the crown when population is factored in. Even amid Chick-fil-Aโs expansion in Texas, some smaller Southern states have a much heavier concentration of the chain than the Lone Star State.
An October 13, 2026 location count based on Chick-fil-Aโs public restaurant locator lists 3,436 U.S. locations, including Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. These rankings compare the 50 states only. Per-capita figures use the U.S. Census Bureauโs July 1, 2025 population estimates.

The 10 states with the most Chick-fil-A restaurants
- Texas โ 524 restaurants
- Florida โ 286 restaurants
- Georgia โ 275 restaurants
- California โ 223 restaurants
- North Carolina โ 201 restaurants
- Virginia โ 149 restaurants
- Pennsylvania โ 110 restaurants
- Tennessee โ 109 restaurants
- South Carolina โ 105 restaurants
- Alabama โ 103 restaurants
Texas is in a league of its own with 524 restaurants, a remarkable 238 more than runner-up Florida. Georgia ranks third with 275. That puts Chick-fil-Aโs home state only 11 locations behind Florida, despite having fewer than half as many residents. California finishes fourth with 223 restaurants, nowhere near the top three.
North Carolina is an especially interesting comparison. It has 201 Chick-fil-A locations, just 22 fewer than California, even though California has more than three times its population. And New York, which has nearly nine million more residents than North Carolina, has only 74 locations. New York does not even crack the overall top ten; Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee all rank ahead of it.
The 10 states with the most Chick-fil-A restaurants per capita
Now the ranking changes dramatically. Each figure below shows the number of restaurants per 100,000 residents, using the same October location snapshot and 2025 population estimates. Positions are determined before rounding to two decimal places.
- Georgia โ 275 restaurants; 2.43 per 100,000 residents
- Alabama โ 103 restaurants; 1.98 per 100,000 residents
- South Carolina โ 105 restaurants; 1.89 per 100,000 residents
- North Carolina โ 201 restaurants; 1.79 per 100,000 residents
- Virginia โ 149 restaurants; 1.68 per 100,000 residents
- Texas โ 524 restaurants; 1.65 per 100,000 residents
- Mississippi โ 47 restaurants; 1.59 per 100,000 residents
- Delaware โ 16 restaurants; 1.51 per 100,000 residents
- Oklahoma โ 62 restaurants; 1.50 per 100,000 residents
- Maryland โ 94 restaurants; 1.50 per 100,000 residents
Georgia rises to first place at 2.43 Chick-fil-A restaurants per 100,000 residents. Texas, despite its overwhelming lead in raw locations, drops to sixth with 1.65. Georgiaโs concentration is nearly 50% higher, showing why the largest restaurant footprint is not necessarily the densest one.
Alabama and South Carolina make even bigger jumps. Alabama goes from tenth place by total restaurants to second per capita; South Carolina climbs from ninth to third. Mississippi is another surprise. Its 47 locations are enough for seventh per capita, ahead of Florida, where 286 restaurants translate to only about 1.22 per 100,000 people.
Then there is Delaware. It has just 16 Chick-fil-A restaurants, yet reaches eighth place because of its small population. Oklahoma and Maryland round to the same 1.50 restaurants per 100,000 residents, but Oklahoma narrowly leads on the unrounded calculation. California and Florida both miss the population-adjusted top ten, while Alaska and Vermont have no listed locations in this snapshot.
