There’s no denying that most Starbucks lovers are synonymous with coffee lovers. While the popular chain serves up a wide variety of beverages on their impressively long menu, Starbucks is obviously known for its many craft coffee drinks, from Macchiatos to Frappuccinos.
Let’s be honest: many of us are in it for the caffeine. So if you frequent Starbucks for that morning cup of joe or the occasional afternoon pick-me-up, you may be interested to know which drinks on the menu will give you the biggest caffeine boost.
We’ve gathered a complete list, based on the current Starbucks menu, of all of the hot drinks and cold drinks available that come with the highest amount of caffeine. Check ‘em out, and get your buzz on.
Beverages with the highest caffeine on the Starbucks menu
There are plenty of beverages at Starbucks that will give you a substantial jolt, but what qualifies as a high amount of caffeine in the first place? The daily amount of caffeine that’s generally considered to be safe for adults is around 400 mg, which adds up to three or four standard 8-ounce cups of coffee. Anything past that, and you may get into too-much-caffeine territory.
For the purpose of this list, we’ve gathered all of the drinks on the Starbucks menu that clock in at 100 mg or greater in terms of caffeine content. Many drinks on the menu – like tea lattes, iced teas and Refreshers, and most Frappuccinos – you won’t see below, because although they do have caffeine they contain relatively lower amounts of it. To easily compare everything, the caffeine amounts for all beverages are indicated for the standard grande cup size at Starbucks, which is 16 ounces.
At Starbucks, the drinks with the most caffeine will be pure brewed coffee. The various blends and brews come with differing levels of caffeine, and the one that tops the list is Starbucks Featured Blonde Roast with 360 mg of caffeine per cup.
The runner up to that blonde roast? Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew, which packs more of a caffeine punch than regular cold brew at 280 mg for a grande size. Behind brewed coffee and cold brews will be some of Starbucks’ espresso-based drinks like Americanos and Iced Shaken Espressos, which range from 225 to 255 mg per cup.
One note: these beverages are based on the current Starbucks menu, and we’ve indicated which are seasonal drinks or those that tend to be more limited in availability. However, you can assume that most seasonal beverages that are rotated in have a similar caffeine level to their counterparts.
