There are few brands more American than Tupperware.
Everyone remembers Tupperware parties from years past – and chances are good you have Tupperware or one of its many copycats in your fridge right now, holding leftovers.
Well, going forward, Tupperware’s “Made in America” era has completely ended with the recent closure of its final US factory in Hemingway, South Carolina.
(This is unfortunately part of a much larger trend of iconic brands and factories closing down nationwide.)

And not only has the factory closed, but it also cost 148 hardworking South Carolinians their jobs.
Production has now shifted fully to a plant in Mexico, where production is cheaper.
It’s a sad ending for a factory that had previously been open since 1976 and had been a pillar of the community in Hemingway.
And of course – it’s even worse for the workers who have lost their jobs.
