Nothing is better than cold, fresh watermelon juice on a hot summer day! The bottled stuff doesn’t come close to the real deal, and what’s great is that you don’t need a juicer to make it at home!

I love to make fresh fruit and vegetable juices for myself and my family. Fresh-pressed juices are a great way to get extra vitamins and minerals into your diet. Watermelons are one of the easiest fruits to juice since they have a high water content. If you have a high-powered blender, you can make homemade watermelon juice at home!
Easy Watermelon Juice Recipe (Without a Juicer)
For this recipe, you will need a ripe watermelon (seedless is best), fresh lime juice (optional, but tasty), ice cubes, and optional herbs like fresh mint leaves or rosemary.

Use a sharp knife to chop the watermelon in half and scoop out the flesh. You can also chop the watermelon into smaller pieces and cut the flesh from the rind. If you’re using a seedless watermelon, you will see white seeds; don’t worry about removing them. The black seeds in seeded watermelons must be removed, so I suggest a seedless watermelon.
Next, place the watermelon pieces into a high-speed blender. Depending on the size of your blender, you may only be able to juice part of the watermelon simultaneously.
Place the lid on the blender and blend on high for a minute or until the watermelon flesh turns into juice.
Then, place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl and pour the blended watermelon over the strainer. Let the watermelon strain while you blend the rest of the watermelon.
Continue to blend the whole watermelon until all of the flesh has been blended and strained into the large bowl.
Once strained, pour the refreshing juice into a large container or glass jars to store. Add a slash of lemon juice over the juice if you will not be drinking it immediately. This will help extend the shelf life of the juice.

How To Serve:
- My favorite way to enjoy this delicious watermelon juice is with ice cubes, fresh mint and a splash of lime juice. It’s a refreshing summer drink that’s like sipping on a watermelon margarita (without the booze).
- You can also use this fresh juice to make a watermelon cocktail or mix it with other fresh juices to make punch. I always serve it over ice, especially on a hot day.
- Make watermelon lemonade: Juice two lemons and mix them into the watermelon juice. Add your favorite sweetener to taste.

Tips
- When shopping at the grocery store, choose a juicy watermelon so you get the best bang for your buck. When shopping for watermelons, pick them up and feel how heavy they are. I always pick the heaviest one.
- Don’t toss the watermelon rind! The rind of a watermelon is very nutritious! You can add the rind to smoothies and soups.
- Watermelons are sweet and this juice is so tasty without any added sugar, but if you want to add a little more sweetness you can add coconut water or a teaspoon of agave or maple syrup to this juice.
FAQ
How do I know if a watermelon is ripe and juicy enough for juicing?
When selecting the best watermelon, choose one that feels heavy for its size, indicating juiciness. Additionally, look for a creamy yellow spot on one side, which indicates ripeness.
Can I store the watermelon juice for later use?
Yes, you can store the juice in a sealed container or glass jars in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Adding a splash of lemon juice can help extend its shelf life. You can also freeze the juice in a freezer safe container or add to ice cube trays to make refreshing watermelon ice cubes.
Can I use a juicer to make watermelon juice?
You can! The blender is actually the easy method to make this juice. If you have a juicer you can use that method if you prefer.Â
Can I add other fruits or ingredients to the watermelon juice?
Absolutely! You can customize your watermelon juice by adding fresh mint leaves, a splash of lime juice, or even other fruits like strawberries or oranges for added flavor.
What can I do with the leftover watermelon rind?
Don’t throw away the watermelon rind! It’s nutritious and can be added to smoothies or soups for an extra boost of nutrients.
