This beet juice recipe is sweet, spicy, with earthy flavor. Beet juice has many health benefits and is rich is vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Beets are a powerhouse of nutrients and are known for increasing blood flow and enhancing athletic performance. Unfortunately, they have a dirt flavor that can be off-putting to some. This homemade juice recipe is a great way to get beets into your diet because it tastes good and covers up the dirt flavor that raw beet juice usually has.
Homemade Beet Juice Recipe
For this recipe, you will need 1 large fresh beetroot or 2 small beets, three green apples, and a 1-inch piece of fresh ginger.
Peel raw beets and ginger. Chop the beets and apples into 1-inch size pieces, or small enough to fit in the chute of your juicer.
Feed the beets, ginger, and apples through the juicer chute.
Once you’ve fed all the chopped beets, ginger, and green apples through the juicer, turn it off and pour the juice into a serving glass.
Depending on the type of juicer you own, you may need to strain the juice through a cheesecloth-lined fine mesh strainer.
Don’t have a juicer?
You can make this beet-apple-ginger juice in a high-speed blender. You will need to chop the beets up into small pieces. Add the chopped beets, ginger, and apples into the blender and cover with 1-2 cups of cold water.
Blend on high until the beets are blended into pulp. Add more water as needed. Once the beets are blended, pour the beet mixture through a nut milk bag or cheese cloth-lined mesh strainer. Squeeze excess juice out of the cloth. You can save the juice pulp for baking or compost it.
Serve the fresh juice in a serving glass and enjoy fresh. If you have leftover juice, store it in an airtight container and top with a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to preserve the juice.
Because these red beets make a dark red juice, it has the tendency of staining hands and equipment. It’s important to clean up immediately after juicing to prevent staining.

FAQ
What type of juicer is best for juicing beets?
I prefer to use a masticating juicer since it juices cold-pressed juices and generally gets the most nutrients out of your produce. You can use centrifugal juicers as well, but it uses heat and speed to render the juices.
Can I make this beetroot juice recipe in a blender?
You can if you have a high-powered blender. Beets are tough to blend and you may not be able to blend them without a high-speed blender.
What are the benefits of beets?
Beets are highly nutritious, rich in antioxidants and offer anti-inflammatory benefits. Add beets to your diet may lower blood pressure and increase athletic performance. Beets are a natural source of nitric oxide and are rich in vitamin c. Learn more about the benefits of beets on WebMD.
What’s the best juicer to use for making healthy vegetable juice?
I have owned several juicers and am currently using a NamaJ2. But for anyone starting out, a Breville Juicer is a great option. This juicer is excellent if you’re not quite ready to invest in a “top-of-the-line” model. It’s a cold extraction juicer with a wide chute feeding tube.
