This TikTok-inspired coconut cloud smoothie comes together with whole-food ingredients like coconut cream, banana, and a secret ingredient that gives it a unique blue color!
Rumor has it there’s a famous smoothie at LA grocery store Erewhon called Coconut Cloud Smoothie that’s gone viral.
Since I don’t live near LA, I decided to make the smoothie at home based on the recipes I found on TikTok. The smoothie contains a mix of frozen fruit, almond butter, and spirulina and is topped with coconut cream. This tropical-tasting smoothie is super delicious, and the perfect summer treat!
Ingredients in Coconut Cloud Smoothie:
Coconut Cream: This is the thick cream on top of full fat coconut milk. I’ve compiled a list of trusted coconut cream brands.
Macadamia Nut Milk: A light nut milk that offers a lightly sweet taste.
Avocado: Adds healthy fat and a creamy texture to the coconut cloud smoothie.
Banana: Frozen banana adds sweetness and helps make this smoothie creamy.
Frozen Pineapple: Pineapple adds sweetness and a tropical taste that compliments the coconut cream in this smoothie.
Almond Butter:Â Adds healthy fats and protein. (And almond butter is surprisingly easy to make at home.) This ingredient can be omitted if you prefer not to add it to the smoothie.Â
Collagen Powder: Adds 10 grams of grass-fed collagen to the coconut cloud smoothie.
Vanilla Extract: Adds vanilla flavor and naturally sweetens the smoothie. (Also another easy DIY ingredient)
Blue Spirulina: Add a gorgeous blue tint to the smoothie. Spirulina is a nutrient-dense plant full of amino acids.
Vanilla Stevia: For added sweetness and vanilla flavor.
How To Make a Coconut Cloud Smoothie
Prep: It’s essential to have your ingredients prepped before making this smoothie.
- Chop the avocado, banana, and pineapple and freeze them the night before.
- Chill the coconut cream for 6-8 hours and make coconut whipped cream by whipping the coconut cream with a hand mixer (see my recipe for coconut whipped cream here).
Put it all together:
- Scoop half the coconut cream onto the bottom of a 12-ounce cup. Reserve the other half of coconut cream for topping the smoothie.
- Then, sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of spirulina powder on top of the coconut whipped cream. Swirl the spirulina powder through the top and sides of the glass. Set aside.
- Then, add the macadamia nut milk, avocado, banana, pineapple, almond butter, collagen powder, vanilla extract, blue spirulina, and vanilla stevia in a blender. Blend on high until smooth.
- Pour the smoothie over the layer of coconut cream. Sprinkle more blue spirulina powder over the smoothie and swirl over the top and sides of the glass.
- Lastly, top the coconut cloud smoothie with the last coconut cream. Sprinkle with more blue spirulina powder and serve immediately.
