The paleo diet is an ever-popular approach to eating that’s built on the foundational food groups eaten by the first humans many, many years ago. This includes whole, plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, as well as animal products like fish, eggs, and lean meats.
The idea is to eat the same kinds of foods that were hunted and gathered way back in the Paleolithic Era, and avoid anything that came along with the introduction of farming (which is believed to be the instigator of changes in the human diet that cause disease). That means that the foods off-limits are things like grains, legumes, dairy products, refined or added sugar, and processed ingredients.
So if you follow a paleo diet, where does that leave you today? How do you stay within these confines in a world filled with quick-service restaurant chains and processed snacks? Can you enjoy any food at your favorite fast food or delivery spot, like say…Domino’s? Does paleo-friendly pizza even exist?
We probably don’t have to tell you that paleo and pizza don’t necessarily mix. But that doesn’t mean you’re completely out of luck. If you’re craving Domino’s delivery or want to indulge in your favorite fast food once in a while, here’s a list of the paleo-friendly choices at one of America’s favorite pizza chains.

Paleo-friendly food items available on the Domino’s menu
If you’re on the paleo diet, you’re probably aware that there are many food groups to avoid that make ordering at somewhere like Domino’s pretty tricky. With no grains or refined carbs allowed (much like keto), that means no bread or pasta, and with dairy to be avoided or limited, that means no cheese either…so sadly, pizza is simply off the table.
Because any refined or added sugar is to be avoided, along with processed ingredients and additives, that unfortunately rules out all of Domino’s sauces, dipping cups, and salad dressings – since all of them are either highly processed or have some form of sugar, dairy, or hydrogenated oil listed as an ingredient. The more obvious sweetened items are no-gos as well, like sodas and Domino’s signature Cinnastix.
However, Domino’s has expanded their menu over the years and currently offers options aside from pizzas and pastas. They have a few salads on the menu, which you can work with to make more paleo-friendly (keep in mind that you’ll want to use your own dressing). Their plain chicken wings can make for a paleo-friendly choice as well.
One gray area of the paleo diet tends to be cheese: some choose to include certain types, and others avoid it altogether. Since dairy is generally discouraged, we’ve removed cheese from the paleo-friendly ingredients listed below – but feel free to order what works for your personal paleo approach. We’ve also left processed meats like sausage, bacon, and pepperoni off the list, but other meats like chicken and beef are up for grabs.
Ordering paleo at this pizza joint will definitely take some modifying and removing of problematic ingredients, but since Domino’s does offer a good amount of vegetable and protein toppings that are paleo-friendly, you can pretty easily replace them or add on ingredients that make for better choices on the paleo diet. Just be sure to call in your order in the event that you can’t make the changes you need to online or through the app.
Here’s everything you can order on the current Domino’s menu that will help make for a paleo-friendly meal.

Pizza is not permitted on the paleo diet, as it includes two main food groups that are to be avoided: grains and dairy (among other potentially problematic ingredients).
While many pizza chains now offer low-carb or gluten-free pizza crust options like cauliflower crust, unfortunately Domino’s does not currently have a cauliflower crust on their menu.
The healthiest options at Domino’s would either be the Garden Salad (without the dressing, since it’s highly processed and contains added sugar), or the Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich. This is made with roasted red peppers, banana peppers, tomatoes, onions, baby spinach, and cheese.
