Intro

Chick-fil-A’s chicken biscuits have long been a staple of the fast food American breakfast.
They’re just so good!
But lately a lot of competitors have started stepping up their game – and let’s face it:
There are now a lot of great chicken biscuits out there.
In fact…

Competition is picking up

There are a number of competitors out there whose fans would claim that, as of today, they’re even better than Chick-fil-A.
Are they right?
Is that even possible?
Well, I’ll let you decide.
Starting with one that’s near and dear to my heart…

Bojangles

Ok, listen, I know that Bojangles isn’t exactly all that well known outside of its core southern markets (like North Carolina, where I grew up).
And even there, its reputation isn’t exactly synonymous with “fine dining.”
But big fans of their cajun chicken filet biscuit would absolutely put it on par with Chick-fil-A’s chicken biscuit…and maybe would even consider it to be better.
It’s that good.
If you haven’t had the chance, give it a try and then tell me I’m wrong.

Popeyes

Popeyes’ chicken biscuit is absolutely fantastic – they get the breading just right, and that extra crunchiness just makes the whole thing work.
Plus, at $3.99…hard to argue with the price.

Hardee’s

Hardee’s traditional hand-breaded chicken biscuit is excellent.
But their Nashville hot chicken biscuit is definitely where it’s at.
Give it a try, and grab some hashbrowns while you’re at it – they’re great.

Church’s

If you haven’t heard of Church’s Texas Chicken before, you probably will soon – they’ve got locations in 26 states (plus DC) and are expanding rapidly, although the vast majority of restaurants are still in Texas.
And while technically they don’t have a chicken biscuit on the menu, they serve chicken…with biscuits…and you can make it yourself.
Their biscuits have a thick glaze of honey all over them, which perfectly complements the crispy savory chicken. Go for original flavor.

KFC

I know I’ll catch some flack for this one…
But I actually think KFC chicken is really very good.
Like Church’s, there’s no “biscuit sandwich” – but you’ve got biscuits and can get chicken tenders or their new saucy nuggets, and…well…there you go.
My recommendation is the hot honey tenders box, because honey + biscuit + chicken is just perfection. (Get a dab of butter for it too to make it even more indulgent.)

Chick-fil-A

I couldn’t leave without giving Chick-fil-A its due.
After all, the pickle brining for their fried chicken just makes it so excellent – and let’s face it…
Everyone compares to them for a reason!
They’re the gold standard.

Summary

So there you have it – five competitors who can make a good argument for having a chicken biscuit (or chicken + a biscuit) that is as good as Chick-fil-A’s…or maybe even better.
So here’s the big question…
