When I was in the Girl Scouts, part of me sadly didn’t want to sell the mint chocolate cookies. Because – well – they were my favorite, and Girl Scout cookies really are a “zero sum” situation.
I mean, when they’re gone, they’re gone.
So, as an adult who enjoys a little caffeine, it just makes sense to totally love this Starbucks copycat recipe.
I mean, it’s chocolate. And mint. And caffeine. And there’s no “zero sum” involved.
What more can a woman want? (Okay, that was a silly thing to say. I’d love more than that. How about a side of world peace with that mint chocolate chip Frappuccino?)
So, kick back and enjoy this drink.
I swear on a stack of Girl Scout cookie boxes, you’re going to love it.
Mint chocolate chip frappuccino ingredients and substitutions
To get the closest to Starbucks’ recipe, you’ll need:
- 1 cup whole milk (for fewer calories, go skim; for richer taste, go half-n-half)
- 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- ½ oz. (1 tablespoon) peppermint syrup
- 2 tablespoons whipped cream
- Ice
How to make this vegan
You’ll need to replace the milk and the whipped cream. For your vegan milk alternative, I’d go with coconut milk (for the thickness and consistency; alternatively you could do oat milk). I’d replace the whipped cream with this vegan coconut whipped cream recipe.
Storage
You could make the Frappuccino ahead of time, and just cool it down and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to pour it over ice!
