New York has the most Dunkin’ locations, but the state with the highest Dunkin’ concentration is New Hampshire. Even an earlier look at states with the most Dunkin’ locations only tells part of the story without accounting for population.
Updated state counts from July 2026 and 2025 Census population estimates produce two sharply different rankings. The raw totals favor big Northeastern states along with Florida, but the per-capita comparison gives several smaller New England states a major boost.

The 10 states with the most Dunkin’ locations
- New York — 1,450 locations
- Massachusetts — 1,030 locations
- Florida — 935 locations
- New Jersey — 860 locations
- Illinois — 725 locations
- Pennsylvania — 680 locations
- Connecticut — 475 locations
- Maryland — 330 locations
- Georgia — 318 locations
- Ohio — 313 locations
New York leads with 1,450 Dunkin’ restaurants, followed by Massachusetts at 1,030. Florida is third, and New Jersey comes fourth with 860. Connecticut reaches seventh despite its much smaller population, a hint that Dunkin’ has an especially concentrated footprint in the Northeast. Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Illinois and Ohio round out a ranking otherwise dominated by the Northeast.
The 10 states with the most Dunkin’ locations per capita
These figures measure locations per 100,000 people, using the U.S. Census Bureau’s July 1, 2025 state population estimates. The unrounded rates determine the order; figures shown here are rounded to two decimal places.
- New Hampshire — 214 locations; 15.12 per 100,000 residents
- Massachusetts — 1,030 locations; 14.40 per 100,000 residents
- Rhode Island — 157 locations; 14.09 per 100,000 residents
- Connecticut — 475 locations; 12.88 per 100,000 residents
- Maine — 157 locations; 11.10 per 100,000 residents
- New Jersey — 860 locations; 9.01 per 100,000 residents
- Vermont — 49 locations; 7.60 per 100,000 residents
- New York — 1,450 locations; 7.25 per 100,000 residents
- Delaware — 70 locations; 6.60 per 100,000 residents
- Illinois — 725 locations; 5.70 per 100,000 residents
New Hampshire jumps to first place per capita even though its 214 locations are well below the overall top ten. That is about 15.12 Dunkin’ locations for every 100,000 residents. Massachusetts comes second at 14.40, just ahead of Rhode Island at 14.09. The three states are closely grouped, but New Hampshire takes the lead on this particular measure.
Maine and Vermont offer another surprise. Maine has 157 restaurants and Vermont only 49, yet both outrank New York after population is considered. New York’s enormous total translates to about 7.25 locations per 100,000 people, enough for eighth place. Florida, despite nearly 1,000 restaurants, does not make the per-capita top ten. The ranking highlights Dunkin’s deeper New England concentration rather than just its national reach.
This July 2026 dataset lists 10,131 Dunkin’ locations across the United States and Washington, D.C.; the chain is not present in every state. The article updates the geographic comparison using a dated location snapshot and a consistent 2025 population baseline, rather than claiming a live restaurant census.
Location counts come from StoresInfo’s state-by-state Dunkin’ data, dated July 2026. Different restaurant-location directories sometimes report different totals because their collection dates and inclusion rules differ. Both lists above consistently use this single dataset.
